    Greetings,

We both are in the process of getting our Class A's and are looking for a company that will let us truck together as team. We have worked together many times and don't get sick of each other. Also we researched the Industry for about three years and decided to pay for our own training, also we both thought about leasing a track at some point and becoming a owner Operator team. We plan to do Cross-Country Hauling, we want to see if there are any routs from east to west cost. Any advice would be welcomed.

    Thank you

Since you're starting out. Schneider will train you seperately. But they will let you team when finished. 3 weeks or so. I drove team for them for a while. You would get the better trucks. Pretty well maintained. They keep the truck rolling. If I was you I would look into them. No pets. Everything is by the book. Other drivers will nark on you for doing silly stuff. I would want my wife trained by them. I won't work for them solo. Sometimes I cleared $1200.00 a week. Truck only stops for fuel and a shower. This was back in the year 2001. I am pretty sure they will keep you rolling. I liked it, but you have to get along with your partner. Teams get the newer trucks when they come out.

Schneider... they're giving away bonuses for teams, much bigger then when I was there. $7-12k !

My wife just got her CDL with Central. I have 7 years experience but have been away from the truck for a year to lose weight and pursue academic interests. If Central won't hire me due to my year away from the truck Schneider looks like are back up plan so far.

So it looks like Schneider 3 everybody else 0 so far.

Not sure if you want to be home more or want to go OTR... but SNI has a lot of dedicated accounts if you want to be home more...

I use to be on Home depot dedicated... went thru the house almost everyday and off on weekends.

Leasing a truck will not make you an O/O . Owner operators are exactly that - OWNER operators . Lease Operators are victims of scams that go broke paying all types of extra fees to the carrier they are leased to .

Me thinks you paint with to broad a brush. There are some companies like CRE where what you say is probably an understatement. There are other companies where there are drivers, posting in these forums, that have been doing well for a while. Check the Prime and ACT threads in the Favorite company sections.

Also, this couple is talking about doing the Lease as a TEAM. I would suspect that greatly increases the likelihood of success.

What does SNI pay to a team? Also, do they give that team bonus to newbies?

US Xpress pays teams .48 cpm to the truck, with hazmat endorsement. Lots of miles. Same deal, you would train separately then team up after training. You would get a new truck. I don't think they pay a bonus to new grads.

Stay away from CRST. They do have miles, but the pay is low. You start out at .22 cpm and only go up to around .34 cpm after a year.
