If you'll read your contract, you'll see that they can keep your last week's pay if you don't give them notice before quitting....I think it's horse****, but that's the way they roll...I'm seriously considering moving elsewhere too, but you can be sure I'll be giving them two weeks notice before I do.

The pay I get from WVT each week is always 2 weeks behind. (They don't pay the first 2 weeks of employment, so the first check issued at the end of week 3 is pay for week 1 work.) When you quit, you should get pay checks for 2 more weeks after you leave.

10-13-07: I finally got a check. It should have been $1,367.00+. It was $226.02 gross. Nice way to treat someone that was with them over 10 years. They paid me $5.85 an hour for 40 hours for not giving notice. One word comes to mind, CROOKS!!! As I said before, I wish anyone good luck when going to work with them or doing business with any of these companies. Schilli Specialized, Schilli Tranportation, Schilli Distribution Services, Wabash Valley Tranportation, Wabash Valley Transportation of Texas and Schilli Leasing or any other company owned by Thomas R. Schilli.

finally a check

my husband finally got his paycheck from wabash valley transportation. It came the day I was filling out papers for the department of labor. My husband got 2 letters from his terminal manager stating he needs logs for the previous weeks. He said he turned them in with his paperwork.I also went thru his log book and there was not any logs in it to be turned in. This is just a game he was playing with my husband. If he didn't turn the logs in he wouldn't got his check for them weeks they was wanting. To me I think he was pissed because I called him asking about his check and I told him he can't do that by law and if my husband didn't have his check in the next week im going to the labor board. I called the labor board and they can't hold your check for anything and the man I spoke to at the labor board asked me what was the date my husband quit and I told him and he told me that they was involation of the law. They have to give you your check within 2 weeks after you quit.
I can see that they did you the same way they did my husband.I don't care what division you work for, they are all owned by the same person and they checks are made out of Remington,Indiana. They also paid him $5.85 an hour for 50 hours but they also paid him for runs before he quit at his regular pay.
I told my husband if you ever say you want to go back to them I will take you to the shrink.LOL The first time he went to Wabash Valley Transportation we got into bill trouble because he wasn't bringing enough home to pay them.I told him that I can only pay the bills with what I got. I threw my hands up because I couldn't Pay them on what he was making.I'm not going to stress out on these bills. So I had them paid off this last time he went there and again he wasn't bringing home no more than 200-400 a week and I can't pay just the normal bills people have to pay. Out on the road all week and you only bring home that much money something is wrong there.Glad you got your money from these crooks.

Thanks for all the e-mails through this site and my own. I will be filing papers with the Kansas Department of Labor tomorrow. Hopefully they can help me collect what is due me from Schilli. I even found one run they didn't pay me on top of what I listed. It was from Park City, KS to Elkhart, IN. I have posted my pay stub on my own site and you can look at that by using Dogpile and searching Schilli Specialized Inc. It should come up #4 on the search.
Maybe I have saved one person from thinking about hiring on at a Schilli company. I really should have realized what kind of company they really were after well over 10 years of service. It took they over 3 months a year ago when I had some major health problems and was off on medical leave and no one sent a card or even called to check on me. There truck set here for the 3 months.
I have restructured my meta tags on my own site. On the some search engine my site shows up in the top five and even second when using some of the Schilli companies.

Good luck...but I doubt you'll get any more than you did since you signed a contract.

I still don't know why some of you weren't getting the miles...as a local driver, they're paying me more than they would have to pay an OTR driver, so they HAVE to be short on drivers. I miss the road a lot but I'm home every night...my wife sure likes it, hehehe....

I don't know why my husband wasn't getting the miles either.... The told him when he called them before he went back there that they had plenty miles and could keep him busy. But this was all a lie by the terminal manager named Larry. I even told my husband that when they deadhead you to whereever you are not going to make any money especially if its over a certain amount of miles. They cut the pay down for deadhead like from $.40 to $.30.Like I said before this was his second time there and again making no money really put a hurting on us on bills. You can't pay bills with $300-400 a week. That is pitiful for someone that is gone all week. You figure time he pays for his food and etc. he might be clearing about 200-300 or less. I think he got home during the week maybe twice if he was lucky. He was telling me that he talked to some WVT drivers and they said they was getting plenty of miles and making big paychecks. My husband was never late with a load and he never refused one either. Last time he was working for them Larry tried to talk him out of leaving but this time he didn't say a word to him. I told him he better not ever say he is going back to work for them.LOL .... He is with a small company and is happy with them. It's a local company in Indiana. The owner knows how to treat his employees there, and when he has to deadhead he is paid the same amount as loaded. Only once or twice has he has to sit to wait on a load for a few hours. This company doesn't like sitting you. Racing from the past good luck in the future.

schilli// wvt

been with them a long time. they are just reeling you in. they have a very bad driver turn over and a problem with paying correctly. your sitting and deadheads will get a lot longer. but the people are nice, if you stay away from management. they have a forked tongue.

they always " loss " logs and forget detention time. funny you have to give them a two week notice or get payed min wage for your last two weeks but i know 6 drivers they just more or less fired ( did it in a way that they could not get unemployment while looking for another job) and they gave only 24 hr notice to them

Received another check dated 12/7 for $341.00 for runs that were not earned in the last week but from previous weeks that were never paid.
This credit goes to the State Of Kansas for helping me collect.
I still have not heard back officially from the State Of Kansas on the final outcome. The check came directly from Schilli.
