The company I work for, company A, I feel is an OK company.im making $16 hr, been there for 6 mo with room male more, possibly. Its local, no nyc, np unloading, benefits. I dont know if they are good or not, 401 k, . The boss is a former driver, i dont work weekends, hours apx 9- 12 hr days, apx 5-5 roughly. They do have a guard, and he sometimes acts like a douche. But we need him cause we are located in a rough neighborhood in NJ. When my wofe drops me off, she waits there with me until I leave. We have security fencing and camaras around the place. So its an ok place with an impeccable turn out rate. Drivers been thers for years, and its a small operation. My complaint is: our trucks and trailers are beat up, tired, and in some cases, unsafe. But its all we got. Are spare rig is from 91' amd 5 th wheel is bent, it pulls to the side. Thats an example. With winter coming, im just unsure about what to do. I look for other places but not much catches my eye execpt 2 other companies I wouldnt mind working for. The boss followed me once back to the yard to see how I drive. ( im ok, with 1.5 year and no points thank God ) and he watches us on camara at the building. So with this all in mind... WOULD YOU STAY OR LEAVE? I dont want to quit thinking the grass is greener, then be disappointed and wish I had not quit.

Btw, those 2 companies ARE NOT hiring at the moment. You have to unload with those, but i might make more from the start, nyc unkown, good equiptment, no weekends.... what to do,???

In this economy...short answer stay put! Write up the unsafe issues that you have and if you feel they are really unsafe to drive then refuse to move them...lots of drivers think that they can be forced to drive a piece of equipment that is not safe...WRONG..write it up , then if they fire you head to the nearest DOT office with a copy of the write up and report them. It may take some time but if you stand your ground most times it will work! Got to remember your wife needs a husband not an accident victim! Also if you knowingly move an unsafe vehicle, then you can be held accountable just like the owner....
