Which trucking companies have best CSA rating?

Last spreadsheet I saw for all scores combined, wal mart was #1, bison transport #2, and gordon #3. I wish I could remember the rest, only other one that surprised me was that Stevens was the best of the training companies, but still in the bottom 2/3's of the list with big problems with drug/alcohol abuse and horus of service violations.

 

That FedEx on the bad part of list is incorrect.

75.8% driver fitness? (only 24.2% of companies are worse than them)
66% vehicle maintenance? (only 34% of companies are worse than them)
48.6% HOS?


Clearly there is a company-wide issue with pushing drivers too hard on poorly maintained equipment. Most LTL's have similar issues, but FedEx ranks particularly low in this trailing 24-month period. Con-way (below 23% in every category) & Oak Harbor (below 28% in every category) are exceptions. UPS, Estes, Saia, and ABFS are all around 50%. YRC is terribad @ more than 70% (but if you've seen YRC stuff on the road lately, you'll agree)

 

I drive for Bison and safety is ingrained in their culture from the CEO on down the chain.Driver doesn't get caught in a tug of war between dispatch and safety.

The FMCSA has re-worked the CSA categories as of the begining of 2013. They are now:

Controlled Substances - Operation of a commercial motor vehicle while impaired by or in possession of alcohol, illegal drugs, or any other substance that renders the driver incapable of safely operating a motor vehicle.
Driver Fitness - Operation of commercial motor vehicles by drivers who are unfit to operate them because they lack training, experience, or medical qualification.
Hazardous Materials - Hazardous Materials violations obtained while transporting hazardous cargo.
Unsafe Driving - Driver traffic violations and convictions for speeding, reckless driving, improper lane change, inattention, and other unsafe driving behavior
Vehicle Maintenance - Failure of commercial motor vehicle due to improper or inadequate maintenance.
Hours of Service - Hours-of-service violations Driving commercial motor vehicles while fatigued..

 

Heartland current CSA:

10.6% Controlled substances

38.2% Driver fitness

34.1% Unsafe driving

12.2% Vehicle maintenance

16.1% Hours of service

 

That's all pretty good, but all that new equipment helps lower their score as well.
