Are trucking companies moving more towards day cab?

I read somewhere recently that a lot of trucking companies are going towards more Day Cab and having some OTR drivers. I've seen this in UPS, Fed Ex and other companies like Conway. Is this a trend, or is it just a pipe dream? I can see why companies would go to Day Cab because of the economy and want to save fuel and the industry changes. I can also see that most people want to be home more often and in trucking, you aren't always home everyday. Since there is a giant need for truckers and people want to be home every day, I can see this change happening.
