Well, after a lot of research of various companies (thru this forum's threads & by PMing a few of you good folks here, & other sites) we've decided to go flatbed & feel McElroy is the best fit. I say "we" b/c while I'll be the one out there, definitely wanted my bride "onboard" with whatever decision needing to be made. She's been great thru it all thus far, totally supportive!
Passed my CDL tests & graduated school yesterday, & will be headed down to Meridian, MS tomorrow, ready to start orientation Monday. Had narrowed it down to three companies, & really had a difficult time getting to the final one, as there were things I liked very much about each one. In the end, McElroy seems the best fit for me.
Just want to say "thanks!" for all the info I've found here, & especially to those of you who've taken the time to answer questions thru private messages.
Start at McElroy on Monday!

I will be graduating on Feb. 25th. I am also really interested in McElroy, and looking for some people to talk to about it. I filled out an application on Wednesday, and I am waiting to here back from them. If you get the chance to update on the orientation process, then I would love to hear about it. If you could point me in the direction of any useful posts or people you messaged here that would be awesome. I would like to know what made you choose them in the end also. If you could PM me any advice it would be greatly appreciated. Goodluck! I might be driving there with you soon! -

Congrats!
I've heard that McElroy (AKA McElroy Truck Lines, MTL or Must Tarp Load) is a quality outfit. I've been told that while you get plenty of hometime, the miles are a lot lower than I personally could afford to deal with.
Good luck! -
Thanks! And yeah, I've read a few older posts on here about concerns related to lower miles than some. Obviously, I'm just a recent grad so while I don't presuppose to know too much, I've also researched enough for months to realize there are a lot of factors that figure into all that. The factors that I can control, well, I know my work ethic & I'll control them. The rest? Well, I'll deal with those as they come. :~)

Congrats to you buddy...Ill be starting with Mcelroy NEXT Monday and am so excited...you have to let me know how it goes, well probably be driving together soon enough.

Thanks, Jeremy, & congrats to you as well!
So you'll be there the 11th? Well, I'm sure we'll be able to find each other, do an official meet-n-greet! -
Well, at motel in Meridian, MS for the night, waiting for orientation to start Mon morning across the state line in Cuba, AL. Roommate's a young guy (24) from east TN, & he doesn't seem to mind having an old dude for a roomie. The fact that we're both bikers probably helps! We've actually ridden a lot of the same roads.
Will try to give progress reports as the week(s) roll along. Maybe some folks could find them to be useful.
