I am looking to get back into trucking after an eleven year break. I am looking for advice on where I should go. From some research and reading this forum, I have narrowed my search down to either Swift or Stevens Transport. Would you all give me your thoughts on these two companies? I would appreciate the advice before I choose. Thanks.
Where should I go work, Swift versus Stevens Transport?

I'd personlly pick Stevens transport of the two evils. Swift just uses new drivers and pays them next to nothing. Have you thought about prime inc? They're not bad for a new driver.

Avoid swift. I can tell you that from personal experience. I was living in Montana and the only company that could get me home on a regular basis was swift. That was my big mistake. Low pay. Terminals filled with poor lost souls. To be used and abused by that company. Sorry had to be honest.

i would agree,Stevens

Thanks for the information. Looking at the two companies, I know that Swift has a terminal in Corsicana, TX, which is really close to me. Yet, Stevens is up in Dallas, which is only 45 minutes from home. I will look into Stevens a little more.
No, I never thought about Prime, Inc. How are they?
Are there any other companies out there that are better? -
I started at Stevens Transport in 2010. Their training is pretty good. They are super safety oriented. They have a decent lease option thru their subsidiary "Alliance". I have a good friend who has been a lease operator for almost 2 years and makes a good amount of money, more than the company guys. I ended up defecting to CR England and enjoyed my stay there. At either company you will be treated as a number. If I was in your situation, I would pick Stevens!

Stevens or Swift, there's a difference???
I'm at ACT and I'm happy here. We have a program called ReACTivate your career. I don't know if you would qualify for it or not or if you even live in the hiring area. -
A friend of mine in Kansas told me about the ReACTivate program with ACT. It is a good deal, but I have been out of the industry for 11 years now. I would have to drive for a year before going to ACT. I am out of Dallas, so I am close to one of your running lanes. Thanks for the information though.

Stevens. I understand they have drivers that been there 15 years. Either they are crazy or it's not all that bad.
