I'll be heading out there next month myself. I am just finishing up school now and test out in a couple of weeks. After hearing what they have to offer an older (just turning 40) driver like myself, I stopped applying to all the other companies. I got pre-hires from most of the companies out there and chose J&R Schugel to go to.

I have talked to several drivers with J&R Schugel and I have not heard anything negative about them yet. Every time I call to talk to the recruiter, she remembers who I am. Every thing from their attitude about vehicle maintnance to driver safety. Their concern for driver health and approach to family life impressed me. And I love the new truck colors!!

Milage and money are one thing, but I am more intrested in the little things that a company has to offer me, beyond the paycheck and J&R Schugel appears to have that. I do belive that I will start and end my driving career with these guys. As one driver I spoke with said "I've only been with them for 2 years because I have only known about them for 2 years. If I have know about them sooner, I would have been here much longer." To me that speaks volumes.

They offer newer trucks, I believe the oldest they have are 2011, but get new ones in all the time.
My husband and I are lease drivers and make .90/mile plus FSC. We pull Reefer, but they do offer dry box. Company drivers make .34-.36/mile to start, with a .005 raise every 6 months no cap.
The miles are there if you want them. We don't run hard like a typical team would, we only put in about 4,500 miles a week sometimes more if need be.
Alot of the frieght goes to the east but they do go down to FL, GA, TX, and CA.
Their lease is pretty decent. We pay $725 aweek for the truck and it has an APU (solos are $525 and 2 or 3 year lease). It is a 1 Year lease, then you get a new truck. You do have the option to buy the truck if you would like too.

J&R Schugel is a nice place to work. They know you by name, not by truck number as some companies do.
When we go to the home terminal in MN people know us and we may not know them.
We wished that we would have came over here sooner ourselves, but we feel that this will be our last company before we call it quits and we still have quite afew years left in us.
If you decide to go over there tell them trk 414 sent ya.
Have a Wonderful day, and keep it between the ditches.

They have both Cascadias and the Kws. You can try requesting what you want
As a truck, but you basically get what is available. If you don't
Smoke you can tell them you would like a non smoker truck.
Orientation is pretty quick as long as there are no problems with the drug test and your paper work. You stay at a Microtel, its pretty decent. They give you food vouchers for lunch and dinner. I highly recommend the Mexican restaurant.
If everything goes well you could be out under a load by Thursday.

If she is still there she is on Dry box side. I don't know her
    since we pull reefer.

I gotta ask, how do they justify that a team pay $200 more per week for the same truck as a solo driver would pay? I would have asked that just out of curiosity just to see what the answer was. Wouldn't that be like, if you buy acar and you're single, the price is $15,000 but if you are married, then it will be $20,000 :biggrin_25516: for the same car? But, if it works for ya then so be it. Good Luck
