If they haven't changed the name, it used to be J-Mar Trucking, though there are several companies that I have seen using that name. It was his father's business, and named for him, Julian Martin.

I always wondered about those guys

I've heard J-Mar is pretty good. I can't remember if I've seen them advertise. If you go to work for 'em, keep me posted on what you find out. Although they're reefer, they probably don't have high turnover like England.

Yeah I drive a Swift truck
And that means one thing
It means she's slow
It's a typical company truck
It's just all show and no go

I'm gettin' passed by Yella
And even Overnite
I'm gettin' passed by ever' body in sight
46 days on the road
And I'm not gettin' home tonight

No, my hometown's nowhere in sight
And if you think I'm pissed off
You're right
46 days on the road
And I'm not gettin' home tonight

Love pissing off those trucking company insiders.

Mark doesn't own it anymore. His sister bought out his shares of the company and went back to way the things were done when Julian their father had it before passing away. I got a friend over there and he says its going downhill. Miles and benefits suck according to him and hes been there for 6 years.

I know a guy who drove for them. He said when Mark got the company he started a reefer division, black petes, big motors, no governors. The general freight division had generic green freightshakers. I haven't talked to him in a few years so I don't know what the deal is now.

The generic green freightshakers pulling dry vans were a different company not affiliated at all with Mark (Julian) Martin. They (the green J-Mar company) ended up getting bought out by Western Express several years ago and no longer exist. They (Mark Martin J-Mar) have nice equipment and very fast 379's and W9's but to me this has always been a big red flag that the pay is probably in the toilet around 25 cents a mile (if that) and they probably routinely run solos 5,000+ plus miles every week. Now I could be wrong but from what I've seen of companies with trucks like those that usually turns out to be the case. Anyone ever seen those D.J. & P. 379's that run out of Knoxville, TN? The shiny ungoverned Petes? I heard one of their drivers talking on another channel to another driver late one night about how "I've been driving for 30 years.. I can't drive a slow truck.. this company is good, but I only make 20 cents a mile, and I hardly ever get any sleep..." Now what person in their right mind would work for such a shoddy outfit? So if you don't care for working smart and are more concerned with what everyone thinks about your cool ride then it's probably a good place to be. Now I could have it all wrong and somebody correct me if I do but I'd bet a dollar to a donut I'm right on..

J Mar

Well you would be wrong about this one. Mark used to pay his drivers well and most generally only ran team operations from AR to CA and back ran chickens out and produce back to Wal Mart. HE paid as well as any one else and had some fine equipment and had some pretty good benefits as well. But he was very picky about who he hired so he got a bad rep from some of the drivers he turned down because they were the kind that didn't respect the equipment or the business. I ran allot with them and the guys from the old John Christner back when JC had the long nose pete's. It was a different time then but he treated his drivers well.

What does "he paid his drivers well" mean? The freight they're hauling sounds like a lot of wait time. Did they get paid for that? What was the cpm?
