Conway Express

Well looks like I'll be starting on with Conway Express in two weeks. sounds like a smart company. We run out of Cambridge Ontario to Detroit Mi (Trans) at night, never driven trains before. Just want to know if there is anybody that is driving for them or have driven for them. Let me know the good and bad. Cheers!!

Thumbs up

They are an excellent company. I would say they are in the top 5 for their pay and benefits. Been here for 11 years and made the best money I've ever made and they have afforded me the opportunity to work and still be # home every day. That means a lot when you have a family. Now the kids are gone.......just me and Momma. So, I'm leaving the company. Hard decision. But, she's decided to get her CDL and we are going to team up. Like I said......Great company. One thing though.....and this bears for all the "Good" Freight Haulin' companies. You will have to put in your time.....Kinda lean starting out. Just stay with it and you will have a great job, with the best benefits you have ever had.

And....don't spend all night worrying about that rear trailer. If you hook it up right....it'll be there when you get the front trailer there. If you watch it all night.....you'll be all over the road....and you'll be wore out before you get to XDE! Just remember.....NO SUDDEN LANE CHANGES! Good Luck!

I worked for this Co. and let me tell you that they will jerk you around. At least the on in Grand Rapids MI. I had to call every day to see if I was going to work at night on the docks or take a load down to Coldwater, Or work during the day. On day my kid broke her arm. She was going to need surgery to have it fixed. They kept calling my cellphone every hour to see when I was comeing to work. NOT IF. After that I told them they could take there job and shove it

I've noticed that ConWay seems to have more drivers than trucks, so the surplus drivers get to work the dock.

Bad move giving them your cell phone number. I blocked the number on mine so my company can't get it off their caller ID when I call them on it.

Conway

Thanks for all the replys. I just started there last monday. I'll be running trains to Detroit at night and city driving also. The pay starts at 1925hr plus 35c mile. I'm just learning the paper work. It seems like a good job and I am at the bottom of the pole for work. I like the fact you are at home everynight or morning. I'll fill you guys in as the weeks go on. Cheers!!

Is Conway Express the company that used to be Consolidated Frtways till they broke the union?

I signed on with them back in 93 after leaving KLLM and they had me working the docks till a opening for drivers came up which they said would be no more then 3 mo's. Well after 6 mo's of lumping frt whenever my beeper went off and continued stalling, I walked off the job. They sent my last check with a mister yuk sticker on it LOL.
