4 Days out, 4 Days home( even for newbies )

That's not a bad deal. I think trucking companies would find that they can keep more drivers if they didn't try to keep them away from home for so long. Although I would prefer a 7/3 or 10/4 or something like that myself.

 

Ive been doing this a long time.. Maybe I'm missing something..

I understand companies offering 4 days out 4 days off..10 days out 2 days off..

lets do the math.. In a perfect world,
11 hours driving at an avg of 50 mph. Is 550 miles per day.
550x.40=220$ a day x 4 = $880 week...minus taxes 675$ take home..

Then you're off for 4 days? You just cut your take home almost in half!

People people people!! Truck driving is not a vacation! It's a job, a hard job, a difficult job! It involves sacrifice and dedication..It is every bit as comparable to the military (minus getting shot at (usually) and the exercise!). But time away from our family is a must if you're going to make any money OTR.

If you want to be home every night or every 3-4 days go work at McDonald's..you will make the same amount of money by the time it averages out at years end.

 

Why do some people think their shoes have to fit everyone else's feet? Ever heard of a retiree trying to supplement their retirement check? Maybe they don't want to flip burgers or tend bar. Maybe they enjoy a new challenge but still need to maintain things on the home front as well.

 

what makes you think we all have as many bills as you, and have to work 24/7???

 

I agree with this statement somewhat.For the most part you are right but it is NOT THIS WAY in all of trucking..

To me it is all about finding the ''sweet'' deal and cashing in on it.It is out there.The problem has always been,finding it.It takes alot of research and pounding the pavement to go against the ''norm'' in trucking.Right now i have a work week of working 3 on and 4 off.It pays 2100.00 to me after my deductions.

I have been at this a long time to know that this will come to an end at any given time.This is the nature of trucking..This gig could end in 1 week or 1 year or 3 years.We just never know in the trucking world.You will ride the horse till the horse breaks its leg.

The only thing in trucking that is for sure,is everything is not for sure..
