A little background on why I left ACT..

9 months ago while on home time (a weekend).. My 5 year old grandson came to stay with me, and never left. I had to turn my truck in, put him in daycare and drag my tool box out of storage.

I went to work for a local Ford dealer in Butler Mo..all the while hearing/watching trucks drive down the highway.

    Fast forward 9 months..

My daughter returns and I move the ex back into the house..HELLO Marsha! (My ACT angel)

    Now for a lil pain..

When I left ACT I had just put new steers, 4 super singles (recaps), a wood steering wheel and new kw mudflaps..along with 4k in my maintenance account..After all was said and done i owed excel leasing almost $1,000.

I called Marsha and she went above and beyond to get me back in the door owing that money..Couldn't happen, and I understood why..Do it for one, do it for all.

So I pulled money from my IRA and arrived for orientation on 10/28/13 (today) :)

My brothers looked and acted like I was crazy..Quote "there are a thousand companies to work for and you don't have to pay a thousand dollars to goto work"..True

They don't drive, never have..They believe every trucking company is the same..not true.

I chose to go with what I KNOW is a true winner..I signed a 31 month lease (or will tomorrow) and will recoup all my expenses in less than a year..

Btw..and this isn't SOP so don't believe this will happen for you..the truck I bought..I was expecting duals on the drives..omg super singles! I haven't had any luck with singles..I didn't ask, Rich asked me.."Would you prefer duals?" YES!

Ill post my settlements, you can make your own mind up whether ACT is for you. I know they have been fair to me.

Sorry it took so long for an update..

I got everything completed Monday morning and was back at Holiday Inn around noon..Tuesday morning I drove to Liberty office to await drug screen..

Drug screen is back, quick meeting with safety and back to yard to load truck.

I had a load offer that I turned down. (Up all day and then have to run all night for morning delivery.)

So they sent me 3 loads to choose from that picked up next day and delivered Friday..I chose a quick, light load of insulation going from KCKS to Louisville KY. 514 loaded miles.

I considered waiting til next day to pick it up, but boredom took over and away I went..Only to find my paperwork but no trailer. Turns out an ACT driver arrived 5 hours previous to take a multi drop load to Chicago area, didn't check trailer number or seal, saw an ACT trailer and took off!

After everyone panicked, they finally got hold of the driver and found he was sitting in Sedalia MO visiting family..Phew! So I took his trailer to him, swapped and across i70 I go.

Stopped at Pilot in Boonville MO for fuel, swiped card, input information..SEE CASHIER..ought oh. She tries it..declined..I call COMDATA, card is blocked..ought oh.

Qualcom night dispatch and they assure me card is active to try again..3 more times! After about an hour of sitting on fuel island, I say heck with it, gonna go park and they can fix it in morning.but I try ONE more time..IT WORKS!

I'm told to T call my load at Gateway and grab an empty..So I'm sitting awaiting a new dispatch..when it comes all I can do is shake my head..deadhead to Louisville KY 260 miles (I was headed to Louisville loaded) pick up at GE and return to KCKS. (I'm thinkin a driver was headed home and needed my load to get him there)

So I'm back at the yard, my bunk heater doesn't work properly and they are fixing it.

All in all, I hit a few pot holes the first couple days back, but I'll say this..

It's the most fun I've had with my clothes on in 9 months!

    Lonesome Thanks this.

It's a shame how much more time they added to the lease though. When I leased it in March 2011 it was a 46 month lease to pay off in January 2015. Now I heard it is a 31 month so it will pay off in June of 2016. Sorry but ACT is just being greedy now with that. They used to not add time to a lease if it was re-leased. Just so you know you need to make sure the apu works because it never worked worth a darn while I had it. It would break belts like crazy. The girl who had it after me had a lot of EGR problems.

I took 195$ in advances so my net is short by that much..

So, $1,750.00 take home for 5 days of work?! Definitely no complaints. (There is no truck payment the first week of dispatch, if there had been deduct $574.00 from my net) $1,167 + 195(advance) =$1,362.00 net

btw I did have new seats put in truck, new steer tires, new drives with wheels, APU works fine and the alternator failed on my way to Laughton OK, replaced at KW in Oklahoma City. All replaced free of charge by ACT.

Im heading to Dekalb for tmoro delivery. Good luck.
