Schneider National has tough training, which I happen to think was excellent. I thought the administrators and the process were really professional and thorough.the catered food was really good too! :)

I went through the school in Green Bay back in January 1992 and it was excellent then too. I went back a few times and trained on the skid pad which I'm sure saved me at least once from a wreck! I think Schneider is a good place to have come from.

there are a lot of super truckers out there that are really super what they're doing, their stories and advice can be really helpful! be careful with their advice because the advice they're giving is for them. You have to learn what your own limits are. And that's where the dogma of all the repetitive training is not only useful but necessary. sometimes, when you show up on time and your load was supposed to be unloaded in 10 minutes, you're still there after 4 hours or more. You have to check your head. Sometimes you have to leave the dock within 15 minutes of finishing the paperwork and, I think it's really important to make sure there is a truck stop or a place to stop kind of close when you're really green... maybe the next load isn't going to be right on time because of that delay. You have to maintain good contact with your dispatcher which might not solve the late load problem but it gives you the administration a chance to find someone else to get that load there on time and it gives you a chance to get rest not kill yourself or anyone else. high stress and moderate to low wages. I've talked to enough people to understand that it is a gift, but it still needs honing...you have to sharpen the axe more when you use it more

10 minutes turns into 4 hours and your clock is still running. you have to leave the property within 10 minutes and you have 15 minutes left on your clock. You're an hour or more from the nearest truckstop. What to do? CR England never taught me certain little things like that. Schneider did... those little things become so important when you're out there on your own. :)
