700 miles per day...7 days a week every week aint gonna happen.

700 miles # .35 per mile = $245

300 miles # .35 per mile = $115 plus 8 stops # $25 per Total = $315

Let's assume you get 700 miles a day for 26 out of 30 days.... 18200 miles..and no home time. You made $6370 that month.

While I only run 7000 miles total with 20 stops total. I made $2950, and was home for 10 of those days.

First off no company wil EVER give you 18000 miles in a month. 9 -12000 is more the norm.

Let's do the math using the higher of those 2 figures. 12K # .35 A MILE.
You made $4200, and were gone all month.

Factor in your expenses...you do eat don't you?

On the low end of the spectrum, let's assume you only spent $20 a day. $600 for the month. You're down to $3600, and you still haven't come home.

Your time away from home (30 days), using your OWN method, is worth only $21.66 per day. That's how much additional pay you earned over me.

My wife and kids would have been willing to take on mowing the neighbors yard, to pay me that (and more) to get home on a weekly basis.

And when it's all said and done....that's what we are working for here. Our family.

My Time is worth far more than $22 a day. I took a long time to learn that, but now that I have. I will not go OTR for less than $2500 a week....period.

We all have our reasons for driving. But the bottom line is family, and quality of life. Of which I have both.

I could make more with another company, and be home nightly. But, I would also give up my ability to say NO when I want to.

How many stops on the average do regional drivers do in the western region if they are running dry van LTL with Watkins/Shepard.
