I have been driving for 22 years and for a lot, I mean a lot of companies.....I have only found 3 that were decent, Wright Transportation, Mobile, Al., Tyson Foods, and my current employer Big G Express. I have posted positive reviews on here before about past compaines, but then something happens,i.e. miles drop, big management changes, or they go bankrupt. Now I digress back to Big G. I started here in March.I applied here 5 years ago and the pay was low and the insurance was horrible, so I passed. 3 years ago the owners sold the company to the employees, and things changed, driver pay increased (3 weeks ago they gave us a .04 cpm across the board pay raise),we got more extra pay items, and the insurance is awesome. You get insurance from DAY ONE if you so choose. The ESOP plan puts FREE MONEY INTO YOUR RETIREMENT! yes I said free!!!!.Basically the more money the company as a whole makes you make more, because after all you are an employee owner. Here are a few of my observations thus far:
Equipment: NOT OLDER THAN 3 YEARS OLD, VOLVOS, KENWORTH T66O & T 680,MACKS AND CASCADIAS. Trucks are set at 67, if you excessive idle ( we have TriPacs)they automatically cut back to 65 until the percentage goes down

Miles: If you want to be home every weekend probally 2200-2500 is the norm, and you can be home every weeeknd if you live in Tennessee, I choose to stay out 14 days, so my average since start has been 2400-2900.

Pay:1-3 years .36 cpm, 3-5 years .38 cpm, 5+ years .40 cpm. We get bonuses, and short haul pay for anything under 300 miles (I prefer short hauls because they are mostly drop and hook, and you can get a couple done in a day which equals more money for me)

Running areas: Mostly I81 to Northeast, Georgia, Florida, Midwest and Texas (basically east of I35 corridor).I tend to run I81 corridor because that is our heaviest freight area. I went to Staten Island last weekend by choice because noone would take it and it was 1000 miles, I made an extra $100.00 and the customer was easy as pie to get to.

Planning: They usually use every hour on my 70. Preplans are hit and miss, usually after I am unloaded they are sending me a load within an hour,Customers are usually in and out except for the typical offenders Walgreens,Family Dollar etc etc. Still my time is not wasted like it was with a reefer. Deadheads are usually short, I am doing about 70% drop and hook right now. most of our freight originates in middle Tennessee and is out and back. You must let them know by Thursday if you want to work the weekend or they will assume you want to be home for the weekend.

Benefits: BCBS of Tennessee runs about $80.00 a week for family, low deductibles, dental, life, disability. They have the ESOP program, which is free money and they also offer a 401K so two ways to retire.

Hope this answers some questions, if you have any specific questions feel free to ask,I will post daily to this so you can see how a typical week goes.I know some folks are going to probally go negative, which is fine, but have evidence to back up your claims, and be respectful to others and myself, this thread is for information and not debate.

I believe they hire out of Jax, and central Fl. but only as they need drivers. That hiring area opens and closes every once and awhile. I will check with recruiting and let you know.

I have an interest in Big G and I only have one question for you because your post answered all my questions except this one. I know Big G runs E-logs. Does Big G use the workflow feature on the QC or do they use the Macros? Ok i guess two questions. Do they use the navigation on the QC?

Navigation yes, workflow no its macros, but in order for everything to be dispatched correctly macros need to be done in order, very easy dispatch is laid back and not up your rear 24/7
