I am a marine who is about to get out of the military (Honorably) and during my time in I used my TA to get my Class A CDL. I am from Arizona and I plan to stay living here. I have a wife and 2 kids (one on the way). I want to find a good company that I can really invest my time into, that will treat me with respect, and be enjoyable (overall). I've been seeing so many bad reports on companies lately (CRE, JBS, WE, etc.) that I am beginning to wonder. Are all truck companies bad to work for?

Since I have received my CDL, I have not had the chance to rack any miles trucking, only the training course (300 hr) and the refresher course. Is there a GOOD company that would be willing to hire a newly veteran, give compensation close to my pay in the military (Around 50k/year) and allow me to be home to see my family?

Local trucking is truly the goal I have in mind, because I get to be with my family. Though, I am willing to do OTR if that's what is needed. Any help and honest advice would be truly appreciated.

I started out with WSE (Willis Shaw Express) and it was merged with MCT under the MCT Name (Midwest Coast Trucking). I personally like MCT and kind of like the COMCAR umbrella. If I get bored with MCT, which I seriously doubt, you have the option to lateral transfer to their other companies. Tanker, Dry Van, Flatbed Division. All Companies have their good and bad. But I got a good Tractor, 2013 International Prostar, Condo sleeper, we have APU.s and Inverters installed by Thermo King. I have to say that the positives far outweigh the negatives. I have seen a plus side to MCT over WSE. Wish we got more per mile but we all want that. I have found it a good place to start and so far I am comfortable with them. I do not have anything negative to say about MCT or Comcar as a whole. If you are looking for a place to start, look at their website and see if it interests you. 50K a yr and be home a lot does not match actual goals of almost any company as a new driver. Especially new local drivers. You might want to rethink that. Everyone has to start somewhere. I chose to stay out 4-5 weeks but my Routes run me by the house for overnite stays during that time period maybe once or twice, that
