Well, I spoke with three more of the drivers for Big G. One did say to use his name as a referral, but I told him that someone else already has that, he told me I would get through orientation faster (a bull tosser, its 1.5 days for everyone) he was very postive though and the first one (all three in Valparaiso, indiana at a Pilot) said they wouldn't hire me because of where I live (the one driver said that was bull, she could tell because he had a NEW DRIVER unit). She sealed the deal for me. So many good thigns by all of them to say. I cannot wait to be done with my current nightmare.

I registered with this site just to post my experience with BIG G, I worked ther for 3 years, to be honest the first 2 years I was a total ### with a serious attitude, if they tried to hang one in me & I caught them I told them about it (as we all should) never gave an inch & refused to give over to any disrespect my dispatcher gave (his name is Danny & think'n he still works for them), he was always pull'n some 2 faced screw job junk just because he could get away with it.

They made it really hard on me, passing over me with good runs to give it to ther sweetheart drivers, home time was usually home late Friday night or Saturday morning just to leave out Sunday for the east coast, ran so much Long Island, Boston & D.C. I could run it blind folded, Finally after I started my 3rd year I thought to myself its time to grow up & fly straight, was never late, never turned down a load no matter wher it went & generaly took it in the shorts no matter how bad, thought if I made a supreme effort to gain ther respect they would treat me better...

Not the case, I asked for a better run one time, something going west for a much needed change of scenery, they sent me to Philly, I aksed "so this is your idea of west ??". Danny told me "its not Long Island.", they sent me into Houston 2 times in one week because ther was a hurricane & the drivers that usually ran it didnt want to get ther feet wet, but I took the runs with no complaints, finally figured out THER NOT GONNA RESPECT ME NO MATTER WHAT KIND OF DRIVER I AM & NO BODY IS MAKE'N ME STAY HERE BUT ME, I SET MY GOAL TO BE THE BEST DRIVER THEY HAD & HAVE DONE IT FOR OVER A YEAR WITH NO RESULTS...ITS TIME TO MOVE ON TO A BETTER JOB.

The day I left Jack Marsh (the VP ther, & I've known him for over 20 years) told me I could come back to Big G any time I wanted but I told him I appreciate it but its not gonna happen, he knows how his dispatchers & managers treat drivers but he dont care, they have some good equipment, good frieght & runs, but for the life of me I dont see why a comapany wont take care of the drivers that make an affort to be a team player.

Consider yourself warned, dont waste your time, they know all the tricks of the trade & are holding all the cards, your expendable at Big G.

Your attitude is what did you in even though you think you lost it really you didn't Worked for a carrier just up the road from Big G for 12 years. Same freight and situation Wasn't perfect, wasn't all that bad for what it was either. 3 years at a company like Big G is nothing there were many more there who'd been there longer than you. There were 20 drivers with more seniority than me when I left the other company for greener pastures. Never complained about any load and did a lot of lousy ones. They are a trucking company with lots of freight on lanes to the northeast not a travel agency

I entirely understand its not my name on the side of the door & they call it a job for a reason but just becuase I'm "just a truck driver" dont give anyone the right to treat me with disrespect, they way I see it liying or playing someone is insulting their intelligence by thinking thier stupid enuff to believe it.

Your correct in thinking I haven't lost my attitude but I try to be a little more tactical about it,thers a time & place to speak your mind, I'm just not one to go along with the program when they tell me to bend over & take it like a man.

Just for the record...I've been at my presant emplyer for nearly 10 years, I still get the shaft on occation, the difference is my boss man tells me up front "your the man in the barrel tomarrow", or...your gonna get screwed tomarrow", he dont try to sneak it past me in some rotten lie.

On the other hand if I have a legitamate gripe I tell him in a blunt way so he knows wher I stand, & dont make excuses when I make mistakes & take what ever chewing out I have come'n to me...if I've earned it, ther been a few times he's jumped me & when he finds out details he'll appologise if he's in the wrong & I've done likewise

Communication makes for a better work enviroment..
