Hey all,
I have been running CDL B Dump Trucks for about 15 years, and last year I upgraded my license to a CDL A, and have been running a dump trailer for a company here where I live....I make about mid 40's now, and would be interested in regional if it paid more....What do you all think?

I don't think the home time would be the same. The pay would probably be close to the same.

Did I post this in the wrong board or something?

You should do some research. I wish I could tell you which way to go, but it's a hard call. Back about ten years ago in the Salt Lake area, Utah started to rebuild I-15. That project lasted about 4 years, and during that time, I saw a lot of OTR rigs running through the dirt pulling dump beds. I also saw lots of help-wanted ads in papers back then that were placed by OTR and regional companies in the area. These two things told me that the drivers were actually making more driving the dump beds than plying the highways.
When you see a nearly-new, chrome-covered 379 with a king's mansion for a sleeper being driven down through the mud and dirt instead of being driven on the highway, it becomes obvious which pays more in that locality at that particular moment in time. Things may be different where you live. A guy may be better off there keeping a 379 supermodel of a truck on the asphalt where it belongs. -
In Canada its hard to beat the money with a gravel truck, and the home time sure makes the small differences worth while.

Where in md are you at?
You could definitely make more running regional as i do. -
If you own your truck and trailer , you need to take that end dump and haul grain/fertalizers , getting a percentage per bushel or ton , i figure you would make between $55k to $75k starting out .Soon as i get the money to buy a frameless end dump or a timpte hopper bottom im gonna be all over it.
