Magicfingers, I have been thru a couple of orientations that sound a lot like Hogans setup. Some big jerk from the safety dept. would give a talk and tell you ,if you are run too hard or unsafe, just call me and heads will fly.Only problem is this aint gonna happen, the dispatchers are the ones who keep you running, safely or not. And just try to call the jerk in the safety dept.Chances are he is out playing golf or taking care of something far more important than your situation. My point is this, dont believe everything you are told in orientation. I hope they told you the straight scoop, but dont bet on it,only time will tell.:yes2557:

The DM, Safety, or the company does not care about your HOS, what the traffic conditons are, what the weather is like. They are sitting behind the desk. You are behind the wheel. Only you and only you can make that decsion if you are rested enough to drive or if you have the hours. Do not and I repeat,,, do not fudge your logbooks for them. You will be the one holding the citation, money out of your pocket, and possably jail time if you screw it up while driving. Is the load worth jail time if you hit someone and kill them, then they find out you are beyond your 14hr window? Think SAFE, drive SAFE. You are 40 tons and sitting in plastic. Look at the pictures other drivers have posted about accidents. All I can say is use your head that was placed on your shoulders. A rookie or not. You have a brain, use it and live another day.

I worked for Hogan for a little over a year, both as an OTR driver and as a dedicated driver. I pulled auto parts on many more than one occasion that had only enough time for a call of nature break. A few of these required I drive through the night to be in St. Louis the following morning for the product to be put on the assembly line. I only spoke with the fatigue supervisor once and that was when I drove until 3am without calling. I spoke with him for a moment and then drove on, no mandatory shutdown as noted earlier. I also falsified my start times that I told him often with no disciplinary action. I enjoyed my time at Hogan and would gladly return.

Hogan is still hurting for trainers from what I hear on the yard. They don't pay much for having to ride in the jump seat while someone who just graduated from MTC drives!:biggrin_2554: I felt so bad for my trainer!:biggrin_2559:
I think every company will take trainers who have been on the road for 6 months. I know while I was at MTC, there was a Star driver who came thru to visit and his trainer had been a truck driver for a whole 6 months! Yay...someone who has been doing this for 6 months longer than me...I DON'T THINK SO!!!:biggrin_2552:
