Would Like To Hear From U.S. Xpress Drivers

I'm waiting to be pre-approved for employment with U.S. Xpress before I go to our local truck driver school, and it would be very helpful to hear from their drivers who have a positive opinion of this company......It's easy to focus on all the negatives about a company, but there must be some drivers who really enjoy workking for this company......That would be an encouragement to me.

Also, how do you like driving their automatic transmissions?

Let me tell you now.
my uncle is a CDL instructor here in asheboro n.c. he has had many students to get pre hired from U.S. Express only to be told after they finish school they can not hire them.
so don't count on them to hire you when you get out of school. they might but they might not. Future Truckers of America here in N.C. has stopped sending students to U.S. express for this reason and a few others.
you being new to this career make sure you do lots of research before you pick your company. I will say you can do much much better than U.S. express but the choice is yours. take it from the drivers who are out there working for these companies
and know how they work. they will teach you alot if you will listen and take it all in.
this board is a great place to start. you can learn alot here.
whatever you decide i wish you luck with your new career.

Something

I just found out today ...I filled out an online app. for US Express, they called me today. One of the questions I asked her was about the "tuition remembursement ". Either I am stupid or they are advertising a scam.....but here is what she told me " Oyea we reemburse who ever you borrowed the money from. I said well I payed cash so will I get the reembursement ? She said well NO because then you would just have to pay yourself ...just to have the money taken out to payback. " Well I was confused so I asked her to explain. Apparently after they reemburse they take 2cents a mile out of your miles to pay it back to THEM. THEY DONT REEMBURSE....THEY JUST LOAN YOU THE MONEY TO PAYOFF ANY LOANS. THEN YOU HAVE TO PAY THEM BACK. THATS NOT REEMBURSEMENT. SO ANYONE THINKING THEY ARE GOING TO GET THEIR SCHOOL PAYED BY THEM...ASK THEM TO EXPLAIN IT TO YOU IN FULL.

They use to tell people they would pay for your training and then pay you a penny less then the drivers that paid their own way. So you would be a penny per mile behind everyone else unless you stayed there till you maxed out.

For the OP. You can deduct your expenses for the training you paid for from your taxes, and just attach a copy of your receipt to the form when you send it in.

Hey Smurf, here is a question

If it is ok with your smurf, can you tell us the top 5 big companies that you do like and would reccomend anyone to go to even if for a 6 months or so to either get into trucking , or in my case, get back into driving. I myself have been out of it for a few years and the horror stories would make anyone turn away from every company. I personally have talked to a few drivers for a big company who is constantly getting slammed here as most are, everyone has opinions, but anway, i was told to go to this particular company and then wait about 6 months and jump.

The only problem with doing the 6 months somewheres is what if you dont like it at the next place ???? Jump again???? You have to remember that it will show on your DAC .... if they see alot of jumping from company to company its going to get hard to get a job

Best bet .... find a place that is good and stick with them for awhile .... just be careful with the jumping
