I did like it at Hartt most of the time. I quit there 7 years ago due to a certain dispatcher that lied to Hartt and said I was lying about where I was on a dispatch while heading home to maine with just enough time on my 70 to get home. She also said I swore at her while she was yelling at me to drive back 30 miles to make a pickup that same day.She now works out of Augusta where Scott is a recruiter. When I got back to Bangor yard I was asked why I was taking my truck home.Dispatcher, her, knew I was taking the truck home all of the time, but, since I refused to drive past 70 hrs to get that load she turned me into safety.I then told that safety person on the phone that my lincoln was completely covered in 8 feet of snow put there in variuos snow storms from the week I was out,The front end loader operator put it on my car while plowing the yard, they were Hartt garage maintenance employyees, they laughed about it when I asked them.By the time I reached the yard my car waspulled out of that parking spot while I was driving to the yard to get my car.It was locked up and was dragged in park right out of that snowpile,I could tell this because my car indents were in both snowbanks that was against the roof and sides and rear of car.I had just put 900 into a new trans that my son and I installed at his garage in unity me at the time.I quit that day, knowing that that cerytain dispatcher would drive me off anyway. At the time the safety man said they were paying 32 a mile to start on over the road. I came back 7 years later and was offered a job after applying again,at 32 to start again,I took it because I needed the job as the previous job I gave up because of no van work anymore there.I was fine for awhile, coming and going, then as if it seemed that certain dispatcher found out I was back, they all know each other and some are different there,if I can say that, anyway the safety man and them are close associates.I had one instance about three months ago where a certain dispatcher of a friend of a friend kept running me around circles, giving me a reload on the aether system,<like a qual com unit>,then changing it 50 iles into that deadhead, and also giving me 3 or 4 short time consuming loads to get home from the midwest, thus running me out of hours and setting my day getting home later in the week, then after 34 off I would get half a week at 1400 hundred miles instead of 3ooo like I was getting. Also Hartt uses a scan system now and if you can't finish that load off by monday in time to scan at a pilot truck stop by monday am at 10,you don't get your whole pay, just half until the next week.I have had to call my bill folks up because this late payments.I carry a laptop, run the closest miles, pay 90 a month for unlimited cell phone use, when we use ch robinson you need a cell to check call and them to call you, instead of wasting time in a truckstop to call in..I also had a webasco heater that I used extensively to stop idling the truck to save Hartt fuel. Jeff castonguay stopped me from quitting that week or shortly after,as the safety dept called me into office , I waited for three hours to talk to safety that day while I was just trying to go home. When I found out they wanted to put me on probation for my logs,I thought they were kidding, then quickly realized dispatchers and safety got together.Another driver a young lady driver who was close friends and went camping together and I were talking together at a shipper that they were both sent to load at,I refused to take a load that would send me out of hours again, not to pick up or deliver but over my 70 coming back home,She told me that she told her dispatcher the same thing and would not load that one.Well, when i got back, safety grabbed me for my logs,Fuel matched but not all of the tolls.I got mad and asked why some drivers don't log that way at all and others have to,I know personally ,half skip loads and never log all of them,i told her I log all the loads and stops,She argued and the safety man at bangor said that wasn't true.I know the drivers personally, also their tolls don't match, the lease purchase guys are having a hard time making it,alot are on the brand new trucks that Hartt bought and one of the drivers sold his old truck and bought a 2008 from Hartt and just a week later already in the hole for 236 dollars, the payments alone are 600 a week, plus all the rest, fuel, road taxes, fed, state, medicare, ssi. He was going to talk to management that day about what options he had. I have driven for over 40 years with no tickets for logbook vilations, just two written warnings. I made the mistake of telling dispatch about this other lady driver and it was my old dispatcher from long ago that I first quit 7 yrs ago that she told off,lo and behold,i didn't know that safety girl in bangor was her girlfriend,,and would all of a sudden monitor all my logs, after I was called and realized why,i said I was going out and take my stuff out of my truck and quitting, after I started the loudspeaker called me by my name and Jeff ,operations manager,Billy right hand man,and said to come to the office,We had a meeting, safety man Rick who hired me both times at 32 a mile,Jeff asked me why I was quitting and I told him all about above. Then I said I only get 32 a mile, same as 7 yrs ago,he asked rick, how come you only started him at 32,rick,said,oh,I will give him 34 retro for last week, which he did.I told Jeff that I would stay,I was assured that that certain dispatcher at auburn wasn't involved in my problems now, like the last time, guess what they both share the same first names and are friends.Rick, told me in his office he appreciated my honesty and would give me another raise in a month or so,I had asked him a couple of weeks ago and he said he would think about it,He asked me my truck number and looked back at it,we were both standing in the hartt yard near the shop.It has been three months since he mentioned the raise,no raise,no reason, seen him three times in person, just says hi,with a half smile. Most other drivers here making alot more.I got my step son a job at hartt and they started him at 34 right away. About three weeks ago,got a message saying the drivers are going to have to go thru canada to the midwest,I kknow it saves 100 miles, before 911 ran canada from coburn gore,me to sue sault marie to midwest. Hartt has fast lane, but I have a dog with me,no fast lane with a dog.Takes too much time and my wife is almost blind now from diabetes and she worried about something happening to her or me out there, can't fly home right away, and what if I died in canada. John at lincoln paper dispatches me out of maine each week,he is a great person, seriuos at his job as I am,but coming home bangor dispatches you home,I do one out to wi,mn,oh,just one load out, then coming home used to do one to two loads, that gave me 3000 miles a week and over 1000 gross, then it took 3 or 4 loads to come home,it took too much time, sometimes running out of your 70 hrs and waiting an extra day to come back to maine,at times could be in ct,ma.n.h,or even maine waiting to gain hours back to come home, then by the time you take 34 off you lost a weeks miles before you know it.I got the flu on the road a few weeks ago, sick really bad,one day I shut down in va.,all day, sick as a dog, would have gone to the hospital out there but I was worried if they kept me,what about my dog. I have what I thought was great insurance at Hartt, harvard pilgrim,I pay 44 a wek for it. When I got home,I had gall bladder pain all night, went to the hospital at 4am in a snowstorm, still had the flu, thought maybe connected together,by the time they Got me into emergency room my gall bladder no longer hurt, but still flu symntons and my neck on the right side was swellling up,my lymth nodes the dr said, they did bloodwork for gall bladder and gave me a subscription for the swelling and went home. Stayed home for a few days,Hartt wanted a dr slip from my dr,got that, went back out on the road,my wife called and said the bills were over 800 and insurance at hartt only paid about 20%,I now have a bill of over600 dollars, have paid insurance for 44 a week for a year and what does the insurance tell my wife, They only pay 20% when i go to maine for treatment,if I was to go to new hampshire or ma. they would pay 80%,my wife informed them, that I live in maine,no one, even hartt ever told us this, and we never thought we should have to ask that question. She then called rose at hartt to cancel insurance, rose said it can't be cancelled until august,wow,44 amonth till august, thats a total of 16 months,at 44 a week, more money lost out of my pay.Hartt takes 100 miles off my mileage pay going to the midwest,I asked and was told its always like that as they route you thru canada.I have lost 100 miles on every midwest load i hauled out. They don;t require you to run canada back to maine, just out, because you do 3 or 4 regional loads to get home.Reg,drivers get 40 to 48 a mile,i didn't. This week i went from bangor to northwest chicago, the night before I delivered that load was given a reload for napoleon ohio, at campbell foods,as I was unloading,I got on mapquest and mapped the load out, then I called the shipper and gave him my company name, truck number and load numbers,he said it was already loaded and would be ready when I got there. After I did all this and just finished unloading, was sent another message for another load, snowstorm was just starting and a big storm forecast, thought and planned to take the campbell load at napoleon oh that was coming home straight to wells maine,my new load was loading at kimberly wi, to sarasota sprgs ny, Took 3 hrs to go 32 miles in snow, had to shut down in east troy wi,woke up in morning at daylight , stuck with super singles in 12 inches of snow, bought a bag of salt at trk stp, still could not move, paid a plow truck 20 out of my own pocket for a 20 ft tow, would have cost 50 if i went thru his company and got a receipt, saved hartt money again. Before I got to kimberly to load, got my next reload, said after del to sara sprgs ny go to ticonderoga ny and get loaded for swedesboro nj,then I was ticked, was supposed to go home, get 2 days off and out again, this load was going the wrong way back to me.Called dispatch, was promised to get another load to maine, next load was worse, load at ticonderoga ny and del to altoona pa,called joannne at dispatch and she said thats all they had, some hartt trucks unloaded at sara spgs and were loading towards home,i wasn't,She said michelle only had that load and I better do it,I told her I was coming home empty if thats all she had, after lying to me and changing my loads all around,I even told her i would not make a pay next week by getting home to late, run out of hours on the road then two off at home.I asked her why you do not come out and home again right off, instead of getting going, stop to load and unload on regional of 300 or less miles, not for 34 a mile for me. I deadheaded home and quit, between the insurance monies paid out and not able to use it in maine and not able to cancell it,I am now looking again for another job, maybe local, maybe road, but ,I have a pet dog thats staying with me if I run the road,if local,my wife will watch it. I talked to Scott about this forum and told him the good report I put in for Hartt last week,he talked to me real nice for twenty minutes, when I went to Hartt at bangor where I work at,I had all the info written down on a piece of paper about the forum and my code name,I saw Rick Paresian and let him know about the forum,He is Hartt head of safety Humane service head person, just like always, half smile,as I handed him that note,he never even looked at it,handed it back to me with the words thanks, thats a good thing to do,still no raise,he did say,you can't get a referral if they use buck and a half,I think he was already aware who I was, because in the forum I PUT MY TRUCK NUMBER IN. Last xmas hartt had a christmas party,I was busy doing extra loads while most of the drivers headed home in time for the party,I told Rick I was working and missed the party,he said once again, half smile thanks for working, the drivers all got nice overnight bags with hartt on them and other gifts,I got nothing, including a raise I gave the note about the forum to rose after rick refused to acknowledge me or what it said. As paul harvy would say,now you know the rest of the story.I will be in touch if you need me,thks, harry Still smiling, looking again.

Another promising company down the tubes.

I was seriously thinking of applying here.

I am a great driver with lots of experiance and super clean licensce, but after reading this forget it.

I can get treated this way alot closer to home!:biggrin_25513:

    Buck, one word of advice.

Before you make another company sound like the greatest thing since sliced bread give the whole story from the begining. I really was enjoying all the positive stuff you were saying about this place.

Yea,I know what you mean. Just think about why I put it all down this way. I wanted you all to know that the two michelles are part of the reason that I quit. The insurance deal is really bad, hartt is actually dealing directly with a ma. insurance company that does not include me.,I know why, but, too complicated to explain here. I didn't gloss over anything at hartt,I was coming and going fine with no problems until the michelles, and safety got involved. You see,I am a man that speaks up for what I believe, what is good for one driver at hartt should be good for all. Rick gives brand new trucks to drivers that are just hired. Some of these trucks aren't a month old and have bent bumpers, bent fairings, fairings under bumpers busted with holes in them.It seems the better the drivers record the worse truck and starting pay you get. He is a St Johnsbury retiree, union driver,Think he doesn't like drivers that are non union very much but needs a job.Like I said before,Billy Hartt is a good guy but others ruin the job that a driver tries to do. Jeff castonguay is a great guy too, but,I really got tired of trying to fix my problems there, driving him crazy,so I just gave up there.I am only one driver of dozens that have had trouble with those dispatchers, some have actually lost their lease trucks thru hartt and had to go company or quit, that was before the fuel went up so high. The other dispatchers are not bad. I wrote that post just the way i wanted you to read it,so that you would all know the confusion just the way i was living it there.Sorry if I lost you, but,i am still peed at hartt employees convincing me to leave with no other choice. The insurance money was thrown out the window at 44 a week for 50 weeks. I couldn't even stand it for two more weeks to get my vacation pay for a year of continuos service.I will get whatever days I have earned though. One more thing, when I was out with the flu ,I asked about my personal days, they said I qualified for one day only, never used any before, but they delete them every new year on jan 1st,very convenient. I had to argue with hartt to get my holiday pay for xmas,. I got in the eve before xmas and they said since i didn't work the night of xmas I could not get my holiday pay. My wife had to explain that was my normal 34 hrs off, then they paid me for it.Some of the drivers at hartt do fine,I just got caught up with the wrong folks at bangor at the time. I never kiss up to folks to get ahead,I work like hell and save money for them and time and had hoped they appreciate that, but, they really didn't for me.Most companies out there are not much better, thanks to God,there are some good ones left.

Ya I have lousy luck too I get a lot of crap just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. None of it usually means anything just crap but I'm like a ticked off bee and want it known.
I'm gonna stay with JB problems n all because Hartt would be a paycut for me.
Thanks for all your posts and keep on truckin safely

Thanks Grunntly,I appreciate your honest opinion also. Looking at my options now. Maybe run local, but, really like the road and freedom more. One of my best friends just started with Roehl,he has many years of experience and is brand new there. He said he was impressed with orientation and the recruiter he had was really honest to him. They gave him a brand new freightliner mid roof to start in. I am thinking of Roehl, but no pets allowed. Have a great day. If any of you have a good lead please email me,thanks.
