I really don't have a schedule on when I get home, as long as I do on occasion...

Anyone know what percentage of their trucks are equipped with APUs? What brand of APU do they use?

I'm heading to Sayreville tomorrow morning for the 10 day orientation. My home terminal will be Dalton.

I'm not sure of the percentage. Less than 50% ?? But if you run regional, don't expect to get a truck with an APU. Although it could happen. Mine has an APU.

We have 3 brands. Black Rock, Pony Pack, and Thermo King. All new trucks that are being equiped with APU's are getting Thermo King.

You'll note in the handbook, they want compliance with some fairly strict idle times. They don't get too antsy about it, unless you have some whacked up "bonus" compliance issues. We have 3 areas of compliance, mpg, idle times, and fuel stops. As long as you stay within compliance on fuel stops, idling won't be a big issue during extreme temp swings. Unlike other companies, they want you to be "well" rested when you take your break...not half baked or frozen.

I would rather learn how to drive in it with someone than by myself.

LOL - done that twice in the past 10 days. First one had to be surgically removed from the inner reaches of my lower intestine.

I will never - NEVER - drive VT 9 again

You should try the 105 with fresh snow, lots of fresh snow...and dispatch calling you every 15 minutes for an update. Cuz you've only driven 30 miles in 2 hours and the load had to be picked up.

Its nice to read there are good (big) companies out there that don't treat their employees like ####. Then again often its how you the employee conduct yourself in doing your job.
It just seems to me that treating your employees decent would be good business, as keeping turnover to a minimum would be good for the bottom line.
I have a good job and work for a good company, but it has its negatives, ie wet weather, as we do a lot of off road stuff, dropping concrete pipe at construction sites. Guess at my age I should be glad for some days off due to weather. We have had guys come and go, but its mostly due to they can't hack the work involved rolling pipe or its too much work for their weiny butts to handle.
