re: riders in truck. I know from personal experience that WkSh will allow family members over 12 while you are still under the 90 days. I called the Safety Director to ask and was stunned to get a provisional ok a month earlier if the logs were good and no accidents. It was nice to have someone bend the rules a little instead of a flat out no. I have to say after almost a year there I havn't found any nasty people in the company yet but I.m gonna keep lookin...

Hope it helps

Dan

Roxy told me that your rider's insurance would be only like $24 or so a month. Former experience is a no-go; you start at .29 regardless if solo. I'm going for my stress test this week to get the hold off my physical: hope to see you there next month!

Former exp. a "no-go"? What does that mean? Why would they start me at .29?? Seriously? That's crazy low, what is their scale and how does is progress?

It means that if you've been off the road for X years, your former experience only helps get into the school, not get more pay. I drove ten years myself. All drivers are considered as noobs when returning to the career. Not sure what the time limit was; I'm guessing 3 yrs.
What I got is:
$250 down on the loan of $4000. Repay rate is $40/wk. and WS pays $25 of it.
$90.00 CDL test for Montana. You need your permit before coming (another $90 for Georgia)
Solo .29/mi. Team .36 - .44/mi.
401K 50% after 6 mo. (if that's still available)
DOT physical $45
Passenger policy after 90 days, $24/mo. insurance
$600/wk vacation (1 wk after a year in)
Blue Shield, Blue Cross available (didn't get price: wasn't interested)
$50.00 for 24 hr. layovers

Not the bestest out there, but to me, working with decent folk is worth a lot too. Something I can stay with. You'd have to call them for the progression rate. Their website doesn't say anything except the claims of making $45K/yr. and we all know about advertisements.

LOL, no, I guess I was misunderstood. I never stopped driving, and I am running the eastern coast now. I just meant I have been doing it for a little over 13 years, continuously. When I said I wanted to hit the road, I just meant going from regional to OTR, lol.

So, this being said, what do you think I can expect now as far as pay?

BTW, I will eventually call the recruiter, but since I am not doing this for a few months, it's not a "rush" thing for me right now to call. I am hoping to gather info here as much as I can. Thanks for the help.

Eric

Hi bodyinked, if you are considering taking the Mrs. then I would advise speaking with Roxy in recruiting as early as possible. ReddFox mentioned the 90 days and she mentioned it to me on Tuesday. As Red said, since you do have the experience they may be willing to work with you so her stay at home is as short as possible. I would hate to see that she had to cool her heals in short term housing for any amount of time especially if you didn't know the particulars and had already given your current landlord a move out date.

I haven't met Roxy yet, of course, but after many phone calls, I'd decided it as a mission. She's about the NICEST person you could ever talk to, recruitment notwithstanding.
Just hadda add that.
