Can't answer that one for you. I do know we have a drop yard there. And they have at least one driver. But as for hiring others, I'm clueless.

You might speak to recruitment, they can answer that one for you.

Trucks are kept in great condition. Even the older ones. My first truck had over 800K on it. It was as solid as one with 100K.

OH, and we're slow. 65 mph

Great post Dance! This is really good info. I'm a new hire and am in Missoula for my 10-day orientation right now. We start tomorrow.

I'll be working the 10-Western and based out of the Modesto, CA terminal. What do you know about this terminal? Is it a decent one to work out of?

Any insight is appreciated. I really like what I hear about this company though and you just re-enforced it.

I can't tell you anything about the Modesto terminal. The one time I was sent there, they (Missoula) called me and sent me to a customer for a pick-up instead.

But, as long as the weather is good. You should be able to get LOTS of miles

As you are there, I'm sure you've realized that W&S does not spend a lot of money on fancy looking terminals LOL. But, they do take care of the drivers and equipment

Tell em you want to bring one of the new trucks east for your first load We'll send ya back in an old one LMAO

LOL....if they put me in a newer truck I'm gonna marry it. hehehe. Have not actually been to the Modesto Term yet, need to get thru the 10-day orientation in Missoula first. Not too sure what all it will entail but I'm not too worried about it. They said I'd be assigned a truck out of Missoula unless there wasn't one available...Looking forward to getting back out on the road....

1) what kind of tractors they got?

2) Generally, what are your delivery and pickup times? During the day or night?

Does Watkins Shepard hire recent cdl school grad? If not how much experience do you need to drive with them. When you guys say 'demand' or they 'expect alot'. What do you mean? Not to make impossible deadlines and/or break the rules (speeding, fudging log book, ....). I wouldn't want to work for a company like that. But I would love some good miles. Hometime is not too important to me. But I guess that may change once I start driving. And what does tailgate mean? Does it mean help unload the truck?..... I used to unload trucks when I did warehouse work, no pallets, it unloaded avg 200 cabinets off by handtruck. It wasn't bad but I guess unloading furniture and driving all day it may be different. All in all WS is my top choice once I graduate and get my CDL.

I don't think that W/S hires in Florida. I see that they hire in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina but it does not show Florida.
