Grandma is at CR England

Hello!

Wanted you all to know that after much prayerful thought and consideration. Grandma Debi is at CR England in UTAH!

Things seem to be going well. She is very happy with the supportive staff and trainers and supportive classmates. There was a problem as she did not understand about bringing her own linens but that was solved with a freshly washed sleeping bag!

She paid less then $1000 for the class as she paid in full and escaped all the grief and extra costs from the loan program. Now that she can actually back up she will test tomorrow!

So far seems like a great opportunity. There was no community college programs in Colorado and the horrid reports on Stevens sent her looking elsewhere fast.

Just thought maybe someone out there in trucker world should know!

So how did grandma manage to turn a deaf ear to all the horrid reports on CR England?

I truley believe that for every 6,000 horror stories there must be at least 1 success story. I hope it is you this time, however, being a driver with experience, I can tell you that C.R. England was the shortest employment in my entire career history. I hope that it all works out for you but you will never see me anywhere near that company again.

Not to pile one but it was also my shortest. 6 months. I spent 4 years in the Marines, a one year contract with the Army. Even Marine Corps boot camp was better than my time at C.R England. But your right Deadhead, there has to be at least on success story to come out of there.

I heard so much negative about each company, I avoided both. And that talk was only with people I ran into here and there(offline). But I'm my own special knucklehead and it seems I prefer to work for/by myself in general. After taking a job with someone else for 7 months, I'm ready to put a dump to work. Most of these companies seem to really suck imo. With that, good luck to grandmadebi! Here's hoping you really can be that success story.

Good Luck just remember that frieght is not scheduled around you.
The more time off you take the more frieght you miss.
Your DM is not your mamma or counsler they are there to dispatch you on frieght.
David has been with them for over 5 years and he makes money. He is happy with them.
These suggestions are just things I have seen other drivers expect and then fail.
CR England is an OTR company that is thier main focus. If you go into the job with that same expectation then you will succed. If you want weekends at home it wont work. If you want so many days off , it wont work. You have to earn the decticated routes that have set days off.
If you work (drive) hard you will make money. but as in any job you have to prove yourself and work. This is a business and any business starting out its hard and you have to work at it.
You can do it !~!~!

Good advice, but not always helpful

Wanting to run hard and actually doing it are two different things at a place like England and JoBHunt. Many, many a story has come out of both outfits that were told by guys who wanted to run but spent their time sitting in 'travel centers' watching other rigs go by. You can't run unless your company is doing its part, and if someone is asleep at the switch, you'll be left wanting.

It means she's slow
It's a typical company truck
It's just all show and no go

I'm gettin' passed by Yella
And even Overnite
I'm gettin' passed by ever' body in sight
46 days on the road
And I'm not gettin' home tonight

No, my hometown's nowhere in sight
And if you think I'm pissed off
You're right
46 days on the road
And I'm not gettin' home tonight

Love pissing off those trucking company insiders.

THey are sooo bad. I rarley trash a company but I have been calling for two days, emailing smoke signals and they do not return calls nor would they send me my diploma from 7 years ago. I dont need it but I wanted to see if they have changed.

Check your DAC and see what nice things they wrote about you. Then you get to fight to have that crap taken off. I graduated top of my class from that school. I got a little award and a atlas from them. My instructor was great but that company is horrible in my opinion.

I hope it goes good for you but please prepare for the worse.
