Assuming I make it to my planned destination tomorrow evening, this week will have turned out to be not-so-bad after all. That reefer load I had went from bad to worse with the final delivery being moved back one more day and I got a message from dispatch on the 24th asking if I would be willing to t-call it in Knoxville and take another load up to Bronx, NY that had to be delivered on the 26th. "Da Bronx" on Christmas night? Hrmmmm ... SURE!!! I'll get the $100 city congestion fee for going in when there was no real congestion and get back on the Crete board early Friday. Things were looking up ...

Then down ... I got unloaded and was immediately sent a load from Greendale, NY to Minneapolis (1377 miles) with not one, but TWO additional drops in Sebring, OH and New Hudson, MI neither of which could deliver until the 29th with the final drop in Minneapolis being on the 31st. That was going to limit be to a 2176 mile week - only a 116 mile improvement over the reefer load.

Mercifully, the people at the first drop then decided that they wouldn't take delivery until the 30th, so I got to t-call it at the New Kingstown terminal where I was immediately dispatched on one going from York, PA to Laredo, TX (1834 miles) that delivers on the 31st. That works about as well as it could since I was running short on my 70 and could stop and get a restart in Harrisonburg, VA with only five hours left and be able to burn it up getting down there starting Sunday.

Soooo ... Assuming I can make good time and get to the Denmark, TN TA on Sunday, That'll be a 2880 mile week and 3188 since my last restart. Not exactly Everrtrucker numbers, but I'm not complaining. That should leave me with around 6058 miles to go by January 28th to meet goal for the year ... I'm not going home until I get there.

Satellite TV

I know this is way off the subject, but my husband and I drive for Crete and we want to purchase a Satellite TV for the truck. Can any of you tell me if you have one and where you bought it. Also, how do you sign up for service? Can you do it online through DirectTV or Dish network?? Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Thanks for the info everyone... we did see one at a Pilot but didn't have time to get it. As for your question about Crete, we've been with them for over 3 years and are very happy... wouldn't go anywhere else. The only issue we've had was when they said we could not have our dog anymore. They have changed their mind on that for current drivers so we will stay. We are on National and are very happy... as with other drivers our miles haven't been too good with the short freight, but right now we're not doing too bad even with that. Wouldn't go anywhere else unless they really did something extremely crazy! My husband drove for both knight and Schneider and is happier with Crete.

Speaking of ET...anyone heard from him lately? Hope nothing happened with his new trainee. Or maybe he is just soooo busy that he doesn't have time to turn on the computer.

And if you get a satellite system, like one from Walmart or Best Buy, don't tell them you are using it as a mobile. We have a driver that did that. He took the extra receiver from his house and bought an extra dish. But his locals wouldn't come in on the west coast, so he called tech support...Bad mistake. Dish charges out the wazooo for using a fixed receiver as a mobile.

I did finally come off vacation, got with breakdown about getting my steer tire replaced. Had to have a service truck come to the house. I live so far out in the sticks, had to have them call me for directions. And the cool news, I had some old extra wheels from when I had my own truck, I was going to toss them, but the service guy wanted to buy them without me even having to mention them....He asked what I wanted for them and I said let's make a deal, and I'll even help you load 'em up. By the time I got the tire fixed, I decided to take 1 more day off. Deland said they had a msg out that they need all available trucks....WHAT???? To much freight between Christmas and New Years???? Will wonders never cease.

Now I need to watch the weather channel to see where the iciest and snowiest area is, and I'll end up heading that way. Oh well, I got home and got my microwave...Life is still good.

Super,

Glad to see luck coming your way. Hope your break went well and good luck on your next time out.

I know i've asked this tons and tons of times but can anyone tell me whether Midflorida tech is a ptdi approved school. Happy new years to all Crete Corp drivers and all drivers that read this board.

ET,

I've missed you. Time for an update isn't it? Hope that trainer thing is going smooth. Could you please share your adventures with this guy/gal.

KH
