There are no preset intervals for either system. It depends on what you set the thermostat at, and at what degree range you set it at. i.e. The system is set at 72 degress, once it reaches that point the engine will turn off. You set the degree range at 4,6, or 8. When the inside temp reaches the set difference the engine will turn back on to either warm or cool the cab back to 72 degrees.

Stopsign multiple reasons for leaving CRETE..

Quote:
In the a.m. we unloaded, then ran up to the Loves T.S. in Ripon to wait for a new dispatch. As we sat there waiting, I contemplated whether I wanted to continue with Crete. I was having second thoughts about running a 62mph truck, the Opti-idle system, the On-Guard system that inexplicably shuts-down my cruise-control (It happened several times in Nv, requiring me to stop the truck, shut it off, and allow the system to reset), as well as the strict Crete policies re. speed. One example given in orientation was being ticketed for driving your personal vehicle 6mph over in a 70mph zone was grounds for termination from Crete, whereas being cited for driving 15mph over in a school zone or being cited for wreckless driving while driving Crete's equipment was a 5-10 point (Crete's system of evaluating their drivers) violation, but not a dismissable offense. Seems to me that driving a tractor-trailer in a wreckless manner should be grounds for termination, more so than me doing 76 in a 70 zone in my own car.
..the opti-idle wasn't the only reason for JChors leaving CRETE, he based it on other factors he wasn't comfortable with.. it was wise to leave now rather than stew about these later working where you're not happy..

The on guard system is a complete joke. If Crete were truly interested in safety they would rip it out of every truck they have that has it.

The hometime was "sucky" because the is what I needed to do to accomplish my goal of buying another home. That has now been completed and if it makes you feel any better I have just completed a 20 day stint of home time.

Sure feels strange to crawl back behind the wheel after 3weeks out of the truck.

Well, I'm back on the road again.

What I had initially planned on being a 10 day stay at the house turned into 20.

We finally closed on a house in Phoenix and instead of moving in right away I decided it would be a good time to do a little remodeling while it was empty.

In the end we actually had a choice of two homes. One was completely move-in ready and had the best of everything and the other was in a much nicer neighborhood (and worth much more once fixed up) but needed a remodel to update the interior and was $50,000 less. That little remodel turned into a full blown remodel and like any construction job there were a number of unexpected delays. Such as crack addicted texture guys, no show tile layers, incompetent A/C installers, etc.

It became apparent early on that I was going to need more time at home so I called my FM and requested an extra week at home. That time was granted without question and as that time also came to a close I found myself needing a couple more days. Another call to my FM and I was given another extension with a "good luck" and a "just get that damn thing done will ya".

I loved doing it, but I have to say, I'm not as young as I used to be and those continuous 16hrs days kicked by butt. If nothing else, it reminded me what it's like to actually work for a living. There isn't a muscle in my body that doesn't' ache. It sure feels good to get back in the truck so that I can get some rest again.

A few pics of the process:

I didn't get every thing done that I wanted too, but I was able to make arrangements to have the final few detail taken care of while I'm out on the road. All it needs is some tile work, carpeting and kitchen cabinets. All of which should be completed by the end of the week.

For now, it's back to the easy life of truck driving.

The system works pretty good for me...... Although, I'm not a negative person that whines and complains about everything, so maybe that has something to do with it not bothering me...........
