| Attention Crete drivers. Everyone knows that I am very pro Crete, that is only because I have found them to be an excellent carrier to drive for and have been as honest as possible about my trials and tribulations with this company. I have been accused of painting a rosy picture at times and my only response to that is that I will always point out the bad as well as the good concerning Crete. It just so happens that Crete tends to have far more good traits. With that said, it’s time to call Crete out on its back handed sneaky way of cutting our pay. I alluded to this in the previous update, but wanted to bring it to the fore front for those that didn’t read the whole thing (I wouldn’t blame anyone for skimming). I had raised the question earlier about weather or not our mileage pay had been cut without having any solid proof either way. Crete pays practical miles, but somewhere along early spring I started to suspect the validity of our paid miles. They were still far better than HHG miles, but I was not convinced that a setting in the mileage program had not been changed. I know have proof that our paid miles have been reduce somewhere in the range of 1-2%. It’s not going to break the bank, but the fact that they are sneaking it by us without the slightest acknowledgement is mildly annoying. I’ve been able to come up with 2 examples of late where I picked up at the identical shipper and delivered to the identical receiver with different paid miles. Fort Smith, AR to Jacksonville, FL Jan 08 = 999 paid loaded miles Jun 08 = 983 paid loaded miles Alachua, FL to Ardmore, OK Jan 08 = 1082 paid loaded miles Jun 08 = 1073 paid loaded miles It would probably be in my best interest to keep this to myself, but I will always give the bad with the good.

How very perceptive of you. It is much more of a challenge during the summer months with the new restrictive idling policy. I like to use my down time in the back of the truck to catch up on the thread, but now I spend much more time out of the truck when not driving in an effort to keep idling down to a minimum. I've managed to fall a couple of weeks behind but am doing what I can to catch up.

Ill have to take a look at my past trips, but the load I just delivered...Id done about a month ago. It still shows the same loaded mileage. 888 miles from Mechanicville, NY to Danville, KY.

I just did a drop and hook at quiet flex in Houston, it was suppose to be a 10am apointment. Of course I showed up 15 minutes early not knowing they had me drop it.

First load with Crete... I just finished orientation at Marietta Wednesday, got assigned a truck that was sitting at a Detroit shop in Kingsport, TN. I went with southeast regional. I had driven my personal vehicle to orientation, so I drove home to the Chattanooga area Wednesday evening. Another driver from the same orientation class was going to Greensboro, NC to get his truck (Crete rented him a car) and he picked me up on his way, dropped me off in Kingsport. I found out why the truck was in the shop to begin with - the Qualcomm had some messages on it still from the previous driver and dispatch, regarding him losing all his antifreeze around Ft. Chiswell, VA and waiting for a tow truck. Not surprisingly, the radiator, hoses and clamps all look brand spanking new. I got moved into the truck last night and sent a message to dispatch basically saying "I'm in the truck, getting my stuff situated then getting some sleep, PTA is 0700 Friday 7/4". Got a message back saying "Get with ops in the AM to get you set up in the computer for that truck". Not a problem. Did as instructed, had a couple back-and-forth messages with ops needing my driver code, location, etc. (don't they know where I am with Qualcomm positioning?) Got a single load offer, pickup a loaded trailer at the Knoxville yard anytime before Sunday night, deliver in Dalton, GA between 0700-1300 Monday. I happen to live pretty much on the way to the delivery, so I bobtail down to the Knoxville yard, move a Sunflower trailer so I can get to my loaded trailer, hook up and I'm on my way home for the weekend. My load is in one of those all-red "billboard" trailers with the slogan in white print on the side - cool! So, I'm at home until early Monday morning. Plenty of time to get really moved into the truck and find places for all my stuff. First impressions: My truck has about 580,000 miles on it, and is an 04 model. It seems to be in better overall shape than any of trucks I drove when I worked for USA Truck, despite being a year older than the oldest truck I drove for USA, with 100k more miles than the highest-mileage truck I drove for USA. It feels kind of weak-kneed when pulling hills, or maybe I just haven't found the right shift points for pulling hills with a Detroit motor yet. 9th gear peters out around 1700rpm, so I guess it's set up for lower RPMs than the Cummins motors I'm used to. It has not been turned down yet, but is about 3500 miles overdue for an A service according to the sticker on the driver's side vent window so I imagine I won't have much time in it at 65mph before they turn it down. So far, so good...

My truck also has the engine/turbo "chirp" as i call it, accompanied by a quick burst of black smoke. I was recently subjected to a road side "snap throttle" emissions test in NJ. The test consisted of me pinning the throttle to the floor for 5 seconds, 5 or 6 times. The DOT officer then averaged out my smog score. I passed and was awarded a shiny gold window sticker that prevents them for checking me again for the rest of the year. redbeard, I hope things work out good for you. Sorry you got stuck with someones reject truck. The same thing happened to me when i started here. My first truck frequently broke down, always with the same engine power loss problem. Fortunately i have an outgoing terminal manager that has always taken care of me and i was given a different truck; which has been a great runner. Evertruckerr, Thanks again for the update. Great pics too!!
