Enjoy, dude.

They did finally get me a drop number ahead of my arrival to Opelousas... and it was correct the first time. *note to self: mark this date on the calender, will treat as a holiday... Then another 4 hr wait. I guess this area is still getting up to speed after hurricane Ike. Even the mid-south regional guys are sitting, they say they haven't seen much of a slow down until Ike hit. Only thing OP's said they had was a load to MS for Friday and nothing going to FL to get me home. Too bad, I am planning on being in St. Augustine for a couple days. After repeatedly asking for something I could T'call...and politely as I could, offering to deadhead home, they found a load to Atlanta, and then a load I could drop early Saturday morning in Macclenny, FL. Hopefully they will have the correct drop number on this one, I hope that I didn't blow my one piece of good luck on the last load's drop number. That way I can get home, do a quick load of laundry and head out for our weekend. Another acceptable week(2660 mi., acceptable for my standards, a suckey week for evertruckerr )...Geez that's three in a row...now what am I going to complain about....??? I won't know what to do with myself with all my free time... The way things are going, I may get my APU next, then my complaint bucket will be empty. Holy Cow.

Redbeard, I had the same problem with a Motorola phone I had. I also heard that Verizon doesn't like, or maybe won't allow, normal phones to be used as a data card without paying a separate subscription for the data use. (never saw the reason for this, but any way they can make money i guess) My wifes laptop has a bluetooth setup built in, I am thinking about seeing if it will pair up with our phones.

C'yall
You seem to be in a hurry to get home, dont you know once your home your wife will make you WORK... Well, thats how it works with me anyway, I go back on the road for a vacation! Drive Safe and hopefuly you'll get down there in FL.

Normally, this is correct. I work harder at home than I do holding this steering wheel thingy, and shifting this lever that goes thru the floor when the engine rev's too high. But this time, she will make me work in a different way...I have reservations to spend the weekend away from home (with her) in St. Augustine, FL- the 3rd most haunted city in the U.S.- so we can go ghost hunting(mostly she, cause I don't believe they exist) but it's something she likes to do and it may be the last chance to R&R before the world comes to an end, or the economy falls into a depression, and we're all standing in line at the soup kitchen...at least that's what the conspiracy theorists are predicting.

Thankfully I have sleep deprivation training because after del'g in Hotlanta at 1700, I go p/u a load from East Point at 2000, and take it to Macclenny, FL...then home (90 mi) wash clothes, and head back (95 mi) to St. Augustine. Most likely I'll be up somewhere around 36hrs..... There's something about the Pilot on the east side of Atlanta that just won't allow me to fall asleep. Good thing I don't have to log the trip to St. Augustine...

Your one of the few (like me) who has a good sense of humor when times seem to be bad... When freight drops, I hope I'm in Florida standing in line with you at the Soup house! I'm happy to just have a job and pay bills, while others are crying so hard they stand out on corners with a STRIKE sign begging for more money!! LOL DRIVE SAFE

I've seen that cross numerous times... always wondered who, what and why? Is it still lit up at night? Looks great. Surprised there is no record of who made it and worked on it. Historically, there usually was something to give credit... either to a group of people or individuals.

By the time they got me loaded in E.Point it was 0430 Saturday. (load was suppose to be ready at 2000 Fri. and it was one of those places where they said 'cb ch ## and wait for our call'. So no sleeping while I wait.) Then rush it to Wallyworld, and home. Didn't get to sleep until 2300 Sat. night...I'm getting too old for this not sleeping stuff. Besides, as ugly as I am, I really need my beauty sleep.

Saw the giant cross, there was a Bald Eagle resting on top (at least the tour trolley guide said it was an Eagle) He said the Eagles use it as a nesting sight during nesting/mating season. Regardless of the economy this town is busy. Hope to have some good ghostey pics...then I've got to figure out how to get them uploaded. Evertruckerr had an explanation a few dozen pages back on how to do it, will have to re-read 'em and figure it out... I didn't see the taps show, but they do fire one of the 6 lb 1700's era cannons (without cannonball) at fort - Castillo de San Marcos. With the guys dressed in historical era military uniforms. I need one of those when the neighbors are being too noisy.(geez, I even sound like an old man...get off my yard, stop making so much noise...holy cow, I am turning into my dad)

Cya'll

I wanted to thank you, evertruckerr, for your detailed posts. I'll be starting training at ATDS next week and your posts really gave me some good tips on getting miles and making the most of my new career. Thanks!
