Anyway, since there were no new trucks availible they stuck me with a used truck.

It all worked out for the best, at least from my point of view. All the new trucks use battery packs to run auxiliary a/c and heating (no inverter with these), whereas the used 2007s and some of the 06s are getting APU.

Here's my brand new shiny baby:

I was a bit surprised to get one so soon. I just sent in a message to my FM and ask if I could get an APU asap since I missed out on getting a new truck. A few days later I was sitting in a hotel room paid for by Crete waiting for my APU install. It's like a little bit of heaven on earth, sort of, it sure it a noisy little #######!

I got a Carrier unit. I'm not even sure if Crete has started installing TK units, haven't seen any of them around yet.

I've already stopped off at WalMart and to get my Microwave, $35, what a deal.
BTW...where were you when you got your APU?? I have heard that there is a place installing around the Chicago area. But there are signs at KC and Marietta that say Omaha. It doesn't say whether its a terminal or a dealership. And until you said something about not seeing TK units, I hadn't seen one. Until last weekend in Marietta. It was a new one. The way you can tell (other than it's clean) is all the new apu's are on the passenger side like their suppose to be. All the original test models were installed on the drivers side for some reason.

Rough week,

Been getting some very undesirable loads this week. Just delivered in Lancaster, PA this morning and was told that they are 250 loads short through the holiday weekend. They put me on the dedicated WalMart account out of Potsville for the rest of the week. Pays $175/day minimum. More if the miles are there. Looks like I'm about to have my first disastrous week with Crete. I hate the holiday weekends.
Thanks for posting that. I'm on my home time right now and I was scheduled to go back out tomorrow. I called my terminal manager and we went ahead and changed my PTA to Tuesday morning which is not exactly desirable, but much better than sitting in the truck for most of the weekend.

Gonna have some catching up to do since I just had another substandard three weeks with almost everything either going into or coming out of the northeast. Only got west of the Mississippi twice. I even did a restart sitting at a park and ride in Verona, NY after only four days out because of a shortage of freight ...

I just keep reminding myself that it could be much worse at a lot of companies ...

Im kinda in the same boat. Currently, Ive got 3 days to go 622 miles to Hagerstown, thanks to this 3 day weekend. Im trying to wiggle out of it though by t-calling it somewhere along the way. Too bad because Ive been having a spectacular week so far. Ill still end up with nearly 3K miles but was shooting for 3500. Oh well.

West coast is still slow, 1 good run, then sit and wait for another. This winter might effect everyone. Fuel prices and economy dont help.

if you want to feel better about your weekend options - im in marietta out of service because i decided to quit smoking in the middle of prime allergy season, my body hasnt had to deal with my allergies for just about 14 years because of my smoking drowning it out, and now im apparently narcoleptic because of the shock.

get to see a doctor in the a.m. woowoo

think i get a load out of here that delivers before tuesday? (if i get out of here at all)

on another note, went to kennesaw hooters for dinner, its only 4.5 miles from the terminal. theres a tattoo shop in the building behind it, along with a HUGE country and western bar, that hosts ladies night on thursday. all in all the scenery was mighty fine in georgia tonight.

Be careful if you're taking a prescription to quit. I heard recently that the FDA has started an investigation on one of the 'quit smoking' drugs because one of the side effects in some people are suicidal tenancies. And in response the FMCSA has considered pulling a drivers medical card if they use it... not sure if they have followed through with this plan or not.

Any other Crete drivers going to be at the WalMart DC
Thanks for the headsup about the fun in PA. I fortunately read your post about doing the time in purgatory(walmart dedicated) before I was offered a load to Quakertown for Friday. Opted for a K/C, KS load instead. Another driver that picked up and delivered the same places was happy he didn't pick that load as well. I only got 2750 miles this week, but had a extra stop, and a shag bonus for a 48 mi run. So that kinda' makes up for the shorter miles. Now they have me on a load to Albuquerque for early Tues. I hate holidays too. Seems as K/C is a hot place for freight this Friday morning. They offered me 3 runs, all of which either couldn't be done with the hours I had, or delivered Tuesday. I took Albuquerque. Haven't been there since the 4-corners got snowed on last winter.

See ya' in the funny papers....

(hey look, 2 snackbar msgs in a row, and not one nasty thing...only mildly down for a change. Are we getting creaped out yet????)

well me and ole longbed are now in the same boat, but the guy that taught me to drive a truck told me that if i ever went more than 12 hours without a job in this industry, it was because i was lazy.

they knew when i started that i was trained how to log split sleeper, THE OLD ONE. and instead of telling me what im doing wrong with my logs and allowing me to correct my mistakes they opted to write me up and revoke my safety clearance. this was my training company THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO TRAIN ME.... LOL they trained me that they werent going to train me, i should pay other truck drivers at truck stops to teach me how to do things.

the funny thing is, im pretty much overwhelmed i no longer have to sit for the better part of 3 days waiting to get a service done, deal with the non forced dispatch one offer loads, and have dispatchers telling me its perfectly fine to run out of hours to p/u or deliver a load, and then use "safe haven" to leave and go park. its ok to run illegal, as long as crete ok's it..... wonder how the DOT feels about that.

oh and they still owe me a couple hundred bucks. i did alot of research before i picked a company to go with. and i mean a lot.
i asked the training coordinator if i had made a mistake about 6 months in, in december when they had me running 9-1300 mile weeks, and left me on the utah side of 70 never having driven in snow, and unaware how to chain (with 3 broken chains no less....) (there response to that was to get a new set when i got to lincoln, they would not approve me getting replacements on the road..... LoL!!!)
you say it best when you say nothing at all? think thats how it goes...

anyway ive got a driving test on tuesday, it is a fact that theyll route you as far away from your home as they can get you to fire you. they had decided to term me before i had left HOME TIME, and got me to marietta to actually do it.

and now theyll pay for a bus ticket... what a classy organization.

everr, best of luck to you, youll be the only driver left before too long, super, i have known how you feel occasionally, more often than not.
everyone else? hope what they say about duh-wayne being back at the first of the year is true, bout the only reason to not paint the trucks and trailers orange at this point.

o7 if you get to the purina in davenport, ill be the yard dog with way too many tattoo's and a sht eating grin on his face.

its been real.

snackbar, thats chantix, its major concern is that it causes VIOLENT fits of rage. i damn near went to blows with my fiancee while on it, and checked into a hospital long enough to get it out of my system, it scared me to death, and we were arguing over something trivial, and i mean trivial like what we were having for dinner or something. and i was ready to fight.

i took wellbutrin (also see zyban, or bupropion) its an antidepressant that happens to shut off the nerve endings your nicotine high moves through. works like a champ, but either way you have to want to quit.
