Go thru the threads and make your own decisions. Don't let people bad mouthing a company based on hear say or opinion make your decision for you. You're just starting out. Get your feet wet, don't sweat the small stuff. Observe, learn. Then make your own VALID decision as to what happens next. Good luck!

SWIFT

I had my reservations about going with swift after leaveing TMC because my gf had cancer .I have been on the road sense feb18th and love it.My trainer is cool and Im in a hotel when he goes home and that works on that 6 weeks I seen a guy I WENT to CDL school with when i got to the syracuse termail his trainer is local and he is home everyweekend but I WILL FINISH BEFORE HIM or just about the same time I will be better off tho because I will know what to expect when I get my own truck at the end of the month we have been to alot of places and he grosses me out when he eats cooled chunky campbells soup out of the can but its smart because you can spend a small fortune in these truck stops.me I SPEND ABOUT 15.00 bucks at walmart 1 loaf of bread get wheat it last alot longer and spam, and peanutbutter last me all week plus a few pops and waters,i spend a little more on coffee and smokes but i manage.plus the experaince i am getting is awsome the other day i drove over 200 miles in snow i know to all you super truckers that at nothing but i smiked 2 packs of cigs in that time it reminded me of when i was 16 driving a 4 wheeler in that stuff top speed for me was about 50 for that hole time guys on the cb riping on me for going to slow i told one guy that flew buy me to suck my ### then i turned the cb off.well my trainer said i did great handling it he has goten guys that cant even shift or down shift.

I just finished Swift's training in Lewiston, and it was an entirely good experience. Some of the instructors even told us it's just a CDL mill - the real training is on the road with the mentor. I got the privelege of staying an extra week, thanks to getting sick the week I should have graduated, but I still made it. If anyone was thinking of going for this, I can answer questions, at least about how Lewiston does it.

I realize that you people have a right to voice their opinion. That's not what my comment was in reference to. And it is a very good thing to see the difference in opinions of the different companies out there. But the people that think it's cool to make a pun on the name(Swifty, SwiftQuit---whatever that means), and the others or to make cool "Shakesperean-esque" poems. I just wonder if these people think it makes them look grown up or better than that company? I don't like apple pie, but no one can say they've seen me make it my life's work to convince everyone else to not like it. I don't know. Me personally, I've got enough to worry about than to sit around and consume myself with other trivial nonsense.

Ok I have to ask I have heard a couple people talk about lay over pay what is it and how does it work as far as Swift goes?
Thanks

It was reported today on Sirrius Trucking CH that all Swifts company trucks will be turned down to 62 mph. I wish all well at Swift Transport.

Mine already is. I was coming down I-81 headin' home and I got passed by three other Swift trux that were all company drivers! I only had 20k in the box and the stretch I was on wasn't very mountainous. None of those guys were empty either.

I talked to them on the cb and told them I had the hammer down and the odometer read 65, yet I'm gettin passed by other swifty's like there's no tomorrow.

My truck was serviced recently, so they may have already started the castrations. No big deal really when you're running the east but when you're out west for long periods of time, like I've been, 62 is kinda rough! Who can blame them though with fuel prices are sky high?
