Just wondering when did you leave swift ? Also if there is a shorter route you can take it if you need fuel all you need to do is get the com-data code to any pilot-TA-am best-or any truck stop that has COM data. plus I am on dedicated with swift I am out 5 days home on Saturday and Sunday. and depending on run home at night 2 sometimes 3 days out of the week and get any where from 2300 to 2800ish miles. But hey I wish you the best

What area do you run? I've considered doing a run like this, but I don't know how much they pay. Schneider offers something like that here, a dedicated Wal Mart account. However, none of the recruiters ever give me a straight answer on anything so I'm a tad apprehensive.

I am also on dedicated Wal Mart out of Atlanta. Home every night and off a couple of days during the week. Money is much, much better than OTR.

I was out running the Swift speed of 62 mph, when this nice looking Peterbilt passed me by. Kept going about 1 hour later the same Peterbilt passed me. A couple of hours later just as I was pulling into the TA guess who was behind me? Thats right the same Pete! speed is not always that great. As for how Swift pays I agree I would rather be paid actual miles, but when I was hired on I was told how they pay as I am sure you where told also. Blame Swift if you want but remember you accepted the pay. As for routing I have changed my route when I found either a faster or safer way to go, then requested fuel at a truck stop that accepts comdata.

your paid every mile the student runs on your truck.

If your a good teacher and the student stays with Swift, after 3 months you will begin to earn 1 cent for every mile that student runs for 1 year

After so many student (not sure) you double the rates as a senior mentor, 2 cents per mile run and 2 cents every mile they are on your truck.

We have senior mentors grossing $90K a year at the Greer Terminal in South Carolina, most have been mentors 6 or more years.

i trained my girlfreind when she became a driver (and we still train each other) and made a killing when we started running team (6000 miles a paycheck came to around $2K a week) and now make a penny a mile on her (total miles of our truck divided by two)

Look at it this way:
Average student/mentor run 16K a month, at say 0.33 a mile is $5280 a month gross

train 8 students a year at 6 weeks each ( a little room for breaks and getting a student)

12 months x $5280 = $63680 (potential)

now 8 students doing 100K miles a year is 800K miles at .01 cent a mile (if they stay) making your student earnings $8000

$63680 and $8000 in bonus

$71,680 training 8 students at 16K miles a month at 0.33 a mile

Mentors are vultures too...some sit at terminals waiting on other mentors that cant handle a student and pick them up. Doesnt matter who had them how long, the 1 or 2 cent bonus goes to whoever COMPLETES the training. Ive seen students with a week left get picked up by them and that means they could have 15 to 20 student 1 or 2 cents a mile bonuses going on at the same time!

They also pay $30 for a mentor to give students driver test when they are sitting at terminals for any reason. Be sure to wear that blue shirt and they will pick you up to do one..easy 10 minutes for $30

Hope that helps

Does anybody know how you change mentors once your on the road?

Also, will this lead to any consequences for the student?

Thanks

Contact the terminal manager at your home terminal, he can probably handle it or point you to who can. They're pretty understanding - sometimes two people are just incompatible. If you hop mentors like crazy you might encounter some questions, but if it only happens once you will probably be fine.
