what is Swift's work well assesment like? Could you tell me what all they have you do? I didn't really want to go with Swift, but I'm having a hard time finding a company that will hire me because I have been a stay at home Mom for 7 years. I guess a clean driving record (and I have a 'B' CDL) and clean background doesn't count if I haven't been employed recently. Everything is good though with Swift, so looks like I'm going to their school in Richmond for my class 'A'. My husband was with them a few years ago and they could never get his pay right. I hope they have changed since then. I was just wondering what all they have you do with the work well assessment, I don't think they had that when my husband was hired on with them.

The Decatur, GA terminal doesn't have flat screens or recliners.

I think I would be more worried about miles and pay and maybe being able to afford that flat screen and recliner that I could enjoy on hometime...If Im right those TV's and recliners wont be worth a s#!t in 3 or 4 months. nNone of the nice stuff seems to last around a terminal and the company wont buy more because of a few irresponsible drivers that wont take care of their stuff.

Truck Not so bad

I have been working for Swift for about four years now. I went to a outside trucking school so My options were open as to which Company I went to after completing school.I decided to go with swift because I talked to a ex coworker who worked for them and also they would pay school loan back. I must say at times in the begining,It was a little rough(when i was with mentor) but once I got my own truck, things started to get better. I was over the road for a short time before going to norteast region, and getting home every weekend. I wont lie, I have seen some real idiots(just saw a fellow swifty driver go ripping out of loading dock and rip his trl door completly off)come and go, but I've also met some really nice people and some good drivers. With alot of these companys its all in what you make it. I'm not gonna sit here and tell you that you wont get screwed starting out, because 9 chances out of 10 you will, but I think just about any company you start with will probaly take advantage of you because they can. Overall I'm happy with swift, I got a good DM,who really strives to keep me rolling, paid right, and any thing else I might need, a newer truck, and I've been able to make a decent living(50k+).

Nice to also hear good about swift. My brother in law stated that swift is not that bad they just have some idiots that make them look bad.Because they are so large thats what you see & hear about. My guys have a good head on their shoulders and will do great. Thanks for the info.

Some idiots? Would be better to say they have some decent drivers. Most of them I have seen have been idiots!
