no broker freight

I worked for Jacobson in 2006. They were not too bad to work for, but as much as I hate broker loads they are better than no load at all. Jacobson does not haul broker freight so that is probably why they are starving their drivers right now since most of the freight out their is broker freight. I did get home most weekends.

Thumbs up Jacobson are pretty decent people

I drove for Jacobson from 06 to 08 because of their driver retention rate which then was one of the highest in the country.
I later found out it was because of a program called ESOP or Employee Share Of Profit ( I think that was what it was called) but at any rate it was a much better retirement program than a 401k - possible to leave with a million dollars or more in your pocket. This program was since phased out but still Jacobson is a fine company to work for providing you are a good driver. Trust me when I say life with any company is much better if you're not the weak link. Communicate with them often about any issue you're having with freight, short runs etc and you'll find things much easier to tolerate.
When I was there Jacobson started you out with good, low cost medical/dental insurance for your family within the 2nd month of your hire date (about $35 a week)
They actually like to see you when you come to the home terminal and if there are any unresolved issues that your dispatcher can't handle. You can walk into anyone's office and talk - I mean anyone all the way to the CEO and they won't toss you out until the problem is handled.
I quit because I still have a young one at home and she likes having me around so I had to get off the road for a while otherwise I'd still be there

If you still need a answer,I worked for them for about 3 months, they treated me good, good miles but had to quit for I lived in wrong part of country and their freight never would even get me close to house but like most companies it depends on your dispatcher and if they like you.
