How can a trucking company verify time off if you, by chance, can actually afford to take a vacation?(heaven forbid!) A long time ago, I was actually turned down employment with JBH because I had done JUST that-went on a vacation for a month after I had quit a job. The recruiter seemed incredulous! "You went on a vacation, how could you do that? You don't need money? That indicates something fishy in your background. We consider that un-verifiable time off, sorry, we can't use you!". And that is how i was turned down by JBH! I know some of you may not believe this story, but it IS true. Something has to change in trucking, when you're made out to be some kind of scumbag for doing what that recruiter most likely does; go fishing for an extended period of time! Anyone know how to verify time off that is for an extended period of time? I just did that same thing again-went on a long period of time off(6 months), and am ready to get back to trucking. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

NO I DON'T MEAN ON TIME, hahahaha, as in being on time to make a delivery. "On time" is an expression, but you know this don't you? Your just clowning me. On time means that they are unforgiving when it comes to mistakes. In other words, they want you to be experianced. This is just what I read.

i need a bit of advise.During the month 0f Feb.,'06 i receive a tcket in chlt.,nc. for speeding, reckless driving in my personal vehicle frm a homocide det.who got mad bcuz i went around him on i85s. i ignored n didnt take it that serious, subsequently i had to appear b4 a judge 08/06 where i received reckless driving on my MVR...i was let go from my job in chlt.due to the insurance purpose, placing my belonging in storage. I move with a relative in Ellenwd,ga. Shockinly I was hired with a lease contracting company in Ga. 01/07 with this reckless on my MVR And DAC. This particular company at the time had a very high safety rating of 95% where they were very rude, lacking communicating skills, making it very doubtful to see lon-term longivity there with dispatch and safety manager that didnt seem to care about the driver.
i was let go 07/07 becuz of a scale ticket cited on equipment, not me,only later to find a 'COMPANY POLICY VIOLATION" on my DAC.
The initial reckless driving charge in chlt.,nc.was dismissed 12/07 wit the help of a lawyer i obtain from TVC.
I received a determination for benefits from unemployment dept., stating the reason being for this emplyer letting me go was, they felt i was responsible for two fail inspections.
My question is,is this anything to keep me frm being hired as a company driver?, How long does it stay on my DAC? and does lease contractor Co. look pass certain blimishes on MVR and DAC?

It's not your fault though......maybe nobody has spent the time to go over the numbers with you, and set your thinking straight.

3000 miles X .32 cpm = $960 gross

2000 miles X .48 cpm = $960 gross

or

3000 miles X .30 cpm = $900 gross

2000 miles X .45 cpm = $900 gross

Which one looks better to you? How hard to you want to work for the same money?
i agree 100% with u attitude and appreciation goes a long way

Lyion -- well I'm in the job market too, and I worked for the usual biggies (SNI, Swift, JBH, etc.), they all got their good points and their bad points, as I'm sure most truck companies do. I think each driver's attitude helps determine his (or her) experiance working with any company.

What gets my goat, is that I've actually had several company recruiters tell me something like, "well that's the deal, take it or leave it", or "if your not interested, so what, I've got 40 or 50 younger less experianced drivers applying for this job every day, that will take what ever I offer them". I know this may be the case, but the recruiters don't have to rub it in.

Please get this info (who's hiring in Atl) on the board. 35 years, perfectly clean MVR, then, I pissed off the shop guys with a smart ### comment, because I was kept waiting 30 hrs for an oil change. Suddenly I'm unemployed with a "violation of company policy" on my DAC. I think this is a generic check box companies use to get rid of you and black-ball you. It's general and unspecific, but basically tells all the other companies never to hire you.

Amost anything on you DAC will keep you from a Co job.

Lease Ops still look at MVR's and DAC's: MVR's still very strict (because of the new CSA 2010 regs dreamt up by the FMCSA), DAC's count but not as much as for a Co job.

It's next to impossible to fight a DAC, unless you have unlimited time and money. I've only heard of drivers being sucessful if they have an attorney involved over about a 3 year period.

Bad DAC records supossedly remain for 10 YEARS, but they actually hang around until you petition them to have bad recs removed (after the 10 years).
