hahaha dispatch strikes again! Got to 03 just like they planned because they said I have a window until 1600. Got here at 1540 and 03 says...receiving hrs are over at 1500. Where the hell did they get 1600? So if their night shift doesn't unload me tonight I need to wait for dayshift and they will take their 4 pallets off at 0600 when I need to be an hour away at 04 for a 0600 appt. What part of cannot deliver 1 stop an hr away from where I was, drive 450 miles and deliver another stop 7 hrs later do they not understand? Lol

Well, there I was. Finally dispatched on my load that was taking me home. Headed towards the shipper and hadn't even gone 3 miles when the effing QC beeped with "void dispatch". Instead, I got to pick up at a fish place in Jessup, MD. Its a 3 drop load going down the east coast. WTF!!!! That doesn't get me home. DM tells me don't worry, a swap is in the works. OK. Get the load, send in my loaded call and ask about the swap. "You got the hrs to make it to the 1st drop.?" NO!!! Only took them 2 hrs after that to get the swap arranged. GRRRRRRR!
Side note- dang but I feel sorry for all these people that work in DC and have to commute. Traffic sucked bad.

Dude! you have the same dispatch I do? "Hey, we need to go home and get our licenses, it's only been 9 kinds of hell to get them, and we need proof we moved out of the state for jury duty NEXT week."
"Okay, how about running out east and getting home sometime next week?"
. . . We're supposed to be home tomorrow, and we're about 1900 miles away, and will still be 4 days late.
Ever since Central did away with the guaranteed home time or we pay you, they've never bothered getting us home even close to on time... I'm pretty sure you're not with Central anymore, but maybe all dispatch everywhere shares a communal brain, and ours just got the same part today.

Well, As much as I agree with you on their cranial lacadasical lack of abilities, the only folks (outside of my daily m-f dm) that I have dealt with that cogitate are the OTRM folks. Also, hats off to the maintenance folks in Henderson. Great attitude and response to the needs of the company driver.

I must have been fortunate. They diagnosed a level valve problem instantaneously. They did push me to limp into a shop with a tread separation, but I would rather repair in a shop than wait for road service any day.
There is an unanswered issue concerning coolant level and the Volvo engine protection sensor that apparently cuts engine power, just when you need it....such as an on ramp. I could only cure by "re-cycling". Turn off ignition, let the engine settle and restart. Fine if you are by the side of the road, but when trying to accellerate to highway speed up an on-ramp not so fun.
Obviously the answer is add coolant. The odd thing is my rig wants that coolant level very high in the reservoir or it bucks, snorts and chugs upon attempted accelleration.Last edited by JimBob24; 08.10.2010 at 07.57 AM. Reason:: final thought
