Congrats for living the life! It's good to hear you're enjoying it so much.
I do have a question about training. Well, more like the facilities. How cramped are the sleeping quarters? How far away from the classroom are the sleeping quarters? Is there some sort of dining area provided by CRS? Do you need cash to eat there or do they take it out of your first check? How long after you started in the classroom did it take you to get your very first check? Oh, so many more to ask! But these will do for starters.
Thanks for taking the time to help another soon-to-be newbie!

In SLC The Sleeping Quarters are in the VIP Suites Building 2. They are Twin sized bunk beds. The room is about 10 by 7. Its not that bad but if your used to a lot of space it might feel cramped. You only stay in them from the day you get there till the Following Sunday. Then they will move you to the Econo Lodge or Ramada. The VIP is maybe 1000ft or less from building 1 where the Orientation and Class stuff is.
There is the Central Grill on Site open Monday-Saturday. Mon-Fri its open 6am till 5:30 I believe. They take cash or card. You cant get any advances on your checks untill you are assigned to a trainers truck.
Now is the tricky part. You go thru 2 full weeks of school Monday-Saturday. After the last Saturday you have 3 days of orientation. You get Lunch for free the first day and breakfast and lunch the next 2 days. As far as when you get your first check well they pay a week in the rears. Once done with Orientation you are assigned a trainer. Depending on what day you get signed into his truck will be the first day you earn the 64 dollars. Now after orientation when you get on your trainers truck they give you 100 on your comdata card. Its like a gift for getting through school and through orientation. You have the ability once signed into your trainers truck to get an advance for 200 that they will take out of your training pay 50 a week. Now I finished orientation on the 27th of October I got on my trainers truck that Friday. I got my First paycheck on the 10th of November. I hope that helps a bit.

Thank you, Smurfette! One of my main concerns is being late for class. I have an aversion to being late for anything. I've always lived by "I'd rather be an hour early than five minutes late". Not to mention everyone staring at you like you have toilet paper stuck to your shoe!

I will be heading to Walmart to pick up a few items the first day so I can eat cheaply. Is there a microwave available for the trainees to use? Gotta have my early morning coffee!

There is a microwave in the Telephone room just to the right of Overnight Dispatch. And just to the right of that room are 3 soda machines (I Think that's the right number) and Then just to the right of that is a 1 dollar 1 Cup of Tar Maker. (No Joke it is like Tar)
The Lounge has 2 Vending Machines one has cold/frozen food that you can get and then a candy machine.
The Central store right across from Security in Building 2 has Hot-dogs and Nachos and A Soda fountain. Its like 3 bucks for a hot-dog chips and soda I think. Its not bad keeps spending money from dwindling. the Central Grill isn't that expensive either. they have a lunch special every day for 5.50 and in the morning Biscuits and Gravy is like 2.50
When you get to the Econo Lodge or Ramada they shuttles run ever 20 min. the first one leaves at like 5am I think its 20 min intervals always seems longer when your waiting in the cold. So the earlier you get out of the room in the morning the better. Especially if you are in a big class. There is one van that will take 10 people and one that only takes 7 so if they are being ornery they will use the 7 passenger van and make several trips.
If you can go to WinCo its kinda like a sam's club but without the membership. The cup o noodles is a bit cheaper there I think. Sure only one flavor to a box but its helpful.

I picked up an immersion heater at Bed Bath & Beyond. It's just a heavy duty element to stick in a cup or pot of water. Plug n plop, so to speak. I have become addicted to Starbucks instant coffee and will have a couple boxes with me. Just thought a micro would be faster, but don't wanna be seen before my first cup so I'll use the $8 wonder heater. Thanks for the advice on being early to catch the van. Once we get to the lodging will we still be two to a room? What amenities do they have in the rooms at Ramada/Econo Lodge? Sorry for all the questions, I'm sure dozens have already asked. Thanks for the patience and the answers.

There isn't much in the rooms at Econo and Ramada. I only stayed at the Ramada 2 nights after training. I had a fridge and microwave. The Econo well those rooms are different. As far as females there are 2 to a room as long as there are 2 of you. Male well they kinda get the shaft. Its 4 too a room. 2 bunk beds. There aren't any fridges or microwaves in those rooms. But they do have a breakfast room with a microwave. Its not bad there are several places around that you can eat and stuff. Arctic Circle is kinda like DQ. Pretty cheap too.
