I hope I'm asking this question in the right place (thread). I have read that Central is sending trainees from GA to SLC after a few days...are they still doing that?? Thanks

When my co-driver and I went out with our trainer, we were convinced we couldn't do it. Then, 7 days after getting on the truck, my co-driver had to get off with a dislocated ankle. So I had to spend 23 days with a trainer, without my other half, and then spend 3 days getting home, and then go out another 3 weeks solo while my co-driver went with a trainer.

I was ready to quit. I was terrified, confused, and realized that in the end, I still didn't back well. The only reason I didn't quit was my co-driver was ready to team with me.

When we got in our first truck, we were still terrified, and we fought all the time. We didn't sleep well. We got sick. We stressed out. And we were ready to quit.

We agreed to give it 2 weeks, then 6 more weeks, then 2 months. Then 6 more months. At a year we agreed to give it another year.

In the end, we teamed for more than 4.5 years. That's a fair bit longer than the 2 weeks we originally tried to survive.

It gets easier. Try and give it a year, this is a rough season to be out, and you'll find it's not so bad if you can survive the first 6 months.

Good info Smadronia! It is quite a shock out there and is a little different from the picture the recruiters paint for these guys. No matter what its going to take a good three to four months before one gets used to it out there. Not only is it a new career but its a new lifestyle too!

Nope.. Actually that DM was my original OTR DM. Never had a problem with him. However, he's leaving Central soon. My nameless (soon to be ex) DM is a relatively new guy..

Actually, NC people will go to a school in Asheboro, unless Central changed that recently...

Non-NC residents start in Ga and finish in WVC. NC resident start and finish in NC. The NC school is private school contracted by Central. It's actually a 4 week course. If they changed then the NC school would be dropped all together.. As far as I know FTA is still being used.. FTA is where I went.

For that matter only GA residents get to start the school in Conley..
