He might have been after the trooper talked to the witness but don't know. I never got eye contact with them since I got off the interstate before calling 911. Do know that the trooper didn't believe him after looking at my truck and calling the guy who left his card with me. That just blows me away, him following me off like that. In this day and age of looking out for #1 and the heck with the rest of ya'll, that he took the time and effort to do that. Have got to remember to call and thank him tomorrow for that

Looking for Information on Central

Hello Everyone,

I am new to this site and to the trucking industry as well. I have considered the possibility of driving a truck for a living for a long time.

Recently I decided to go ahead with my endeavor and begin looking into companies that are willing to sponsor CDL training. I have to say that I was most discouraged to learn that most of the companies willing to hire new drivers have shady reputations to say the least (based on posts on this site).

However I began to research Central Refrigerated and have not found nearly as much bad information as I have on other companies eg. Stevens, CR England, Swift, Werner etc..

I guess what I am looking for is information on Central from people who are, or have been employed there.

I am willing to work and understand that many times attitude directly affects perception.

Thanks for any feedback

When I am out with JJ we use the top bunk for storage.
At least you didn't ask them to send you any vegemite. Yuck! That is some nasty stuff!

G'day JMFC, Welcome to the central part of the Forum.

There not the worst lot to work for by any means......Pay is so so, Miles for company drivers right now aren't the greatest but they are improving so I hear.

Depends on what you expect in your first year!! I can tell you that the 40k they advertise won't happen in your first year.

Your FM (Fleet manager) can either make or break you, same with attitude, getting angry and telling your FM off and you will sit for a couple of days and your miles will suck, drop the ball and be late on a load or have to be repowered because you didn't manage your time and you will sit for a while so a lot is up to you!!! In saying that some of the guys we know have Fm's that just SUCK and really don't care.

If you do decide on Central you need to go in with the Attitude that you can deal with anything for a year and your school is paid off, and with a years experience you will have other companies to choose from....but remember the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence.

Nice to meet you jess. Sorry but had to leave the computer for minute and missed you reply. Thank you for the information.

I guess what I'm looking for is a company that I can advance with. I understand that I will have to pay my dues and I am certainly willing to do so.

How many miles for company drivers recently? If not 40K then what.

I guess the Mods moved the thread I pmed brickman a mod and asked if we could get our thread moved back. I hope so. I think its better in the other section so people looking for good info will go into the discuss your favorite not the inside scoop so we will wait and see if they will move us back. JJRanch.

My husband is a new company driver. He has only had 2 checks over 600 I 3 months of bring on his own. Last week and next barely 10 0 per check. We have not seen an increase in miles yet. It right the oopsite of that. However he did lose it on his FM last week. But hard to support a family pa 4 with less than 1500 dollars a month. That barely covers our rent. You asked for honesty and that is how I gave it to you from the checks we are getting.
