also i was wondering what you guys and gals would think would be best for me to do? Go to a accountant and have him do my taxes with all the deductions cause he knows what he's doing (if this one give me some name's of people i can contact about it). or to buy computer software and do it myself (Give me some names of software that is trucker friendly).

Thanks, JDTTrucker

We are L/O so we just Pay an ATBS $16.00 a week to do Quarterly taxes.

As a company driver I would just get an accountant and get him or her to do taxes.

Cool

[quote=jess-juju;935750]Volvo's and Pro-stars, still mainly Volvo's and you might find the odd company driver in an older lease truck.

Just wondering a few things:
  • How do drivers like the Pro-Star vs. the Volvo, or any other truck?
  • I've heard the Freightliners and Internationals are not as comfortable as the others. T or F?
  • If a co. driver decides to lease, does he have to accept a tractor from Central's available inventory, or can he shop around places like truck-paper.com?
Just a little over two weeks until I start on the 13th. After almost 11/2 yrs of retirement I'm feeling a wide range of emotion. Wanting to get back to feeling productive again but also knowing that I will probably miss aspects of having soooo much free time.
Keeping up with all your posts here is informative and quite interesting too. Thanks to everyone for taking the time.
Well, it's only a "balmy" 107 degrees here now and in a few hours we're having our two married daughter's with their children and our remaining two unmarried sons, over for a BBQ and swim time!!! Man, I am really going to miss those GRANDKIDS... Spent some fun one on one time yesterday with my 7yr. g-son, Mason. Picked him up in the morning then over to a corn field where we picked a basket for corn-on-the cob for this afternoon, then over to the local airport for breakfast together on an elevated outdoor patio where we could watch the private planes take-off and land while listening to radio transmissions. Afterwards, I took him in the hangar and let him sit in some of planes...was fun to see his eyes and imagination widen. I'll see today if he remembers how to coordinate the stick and rudder, ( I've had a private pilot's license since '85). Then to a park to bake in the sun...before racing to the nearest Cold-Stone ice creamery. Back to my home and a piano lesson from Grand-ma, then couch time together to watch a few episodes of Mr. Monk on DVD before his mother came to pick him up for his karate lesson.

JDT, I have used Turbo-Tax.com for an unrelated business for years, never any problems with IRS or state, and considerably less expensive that a private accountant. Seems to work quite well for the majority of small business situations.

If you are new driver, chances are you will get the Volvo. The guys who have been there get the prostars as well as lease ops.
