Thank You for taking the time to answer JJ. Too bad about Caterpillar leaving the truck engine market. From what I found online, only 10% of their business was on-highway focused. Most of their market was off-highway construction, mining, marine and power generators where they don't have to deal with all the EPA restrictions. Good news for Cummins though, maybe even Detroit.
It must be hard to have a nice truck like your 387 and have a new trainee grind the gears trying to get the hang of using the splitter and Hi-Lo lever. Have to admit, one of my worries is screwing-up my trainer's tranny while trying to get the 13 speed down.
I have had 4 students prior to the current one and my tranny so far is still intact. It is all in how you teach and not on of them have damaged the mistress at all. JJRanch.

Well all - Central said no to me unless I go through their school. I am not going to pay them for school as the school I am in is paid for. Bummer! So where should I go next? Swift, Werner or Covenant I have pre-hires for. But I was thinking of Watkins Shepard, as the post on this forum are more positive than the others and Covenant seems to be very negative so thats out.

I will still be on this thread as I really like you guys - you make me laugh.

Can those of you who took your laptops to training tell me how you kept them from growing legs? I have Lojack for my laptop but your experience will determine if I activate it. I heard they have lockers but I have a 17" laptop so don't know if it will fit. Also do the dorm rooms have locks on them? Thanks

Whew...that's good to hear. You must be a patient man, as well as a good teacher. I think if I had spent 100K+ on a nice tractor, I'd want a newbie to sign over legal rights to his LIVER as security before giving him a chance to trash the gear box!
