Their job is only to keep track of you once the planners give you a load. The more I researched the company and the lease/owner option, the more worried for him I got.
The FM is there to work for there Drivers!!

If your Partner is having a problem getting 3000+ miles a week as a L/O then he needs to talk to his FM!

Is your partner already leasing or is he thinking about it?

Well, well, well, I finally got to meet 6pack4two live and in person.

My wife and I dropped into the Henderson terminal and we went to the Golden Corral for dinner-- 6pack even paid! Thanks again, man.

It was very interesting for me. I was a company driver for Simon and then Central, and mostly worried about getting my load from point A to point B. Sixpack and many others are training or leasing or both, and they have to step back and concentrate on the entire picture, including all the ins and outs.

JJ and Panhandle were already moving by the time we picked up 6pack. I still look forward to meeting you.

Hope everyone has recovered from the holiday indulgences (no human or animal sacrifices to the Gods of libation), that worshipping at the great porcelain altar is in the past , and that vision and keyboard dexterity are at least somewhat restored to normal. Liver problems forced me to quit several years ago, but occasionally I do sorely miss my beloved Sam Adams Cherry Wheat!! And the way Mandy could make an "Alabama Slamma",............oh my.............. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All that aside, I have a question: Is backing a small, short trailer more difficult than a longer 53ft one? Somewhere on another forum a poster was making that argument. I can see where it might be more responsive, but more difficult ? I'd like some comments from the pro's on that one.

JJ was sorry he missed you!

he ended up out at the Henderson Yard last night for an hr or so, Sygma said his app wasn't until today so he dropped his trailer and took a Empty onto Kansas.

Poobah I read the post you are talking about!! Had a little chuckle to myself.

I've been thinking a lot about the last two Central drivers I met-- Walt (1badz28) and Bill (6pack4two). Both very good men and good drivers.

What I noticed talking with these guys is that the feeling of optimism is vanishing throughout the industry. The days of getting in a truck and being paid well for your sacrifice are over for a while, and the job seems to be not fun anymore.

I've got to tell you, I'm really saddened by that. I wish there was a way to convey to you younger folks just how good things used to be.

Well I'm here in Garden city now with nothing to do. Stopped by my 99 to see if I could get this stuff off, but they said their overbooked & I will have to wait for my appt.

Looks like I'm taking a reset.

Yep you are right!!

I think with the economy being the way it is, that so many people are looking for ways to feed there family and being a driver is just a job for them until the economy improves and they can go back to there old job.

When JJ went to Central my last words to him at the airport were: You can deal with anything for a year and then you can move onto to a different company.

So he went to Central with the plan that he would stay a year and then look for a different company that pays more.(Still there after his year)

JJ and I both love the lifestyle guess we are both nomads lol!

Being over the road isn't for everyone and with the insurance being the way it is there is no way to tell if your going to like it until you pay for your schooling and then go out with your trainer. They get out there and find out that you don't just sit behind the wheel and shift gears.

To many people are doing this because its a last resort and being a driver is probably not for them.

JJ went to Central with a plan we still have that plan! It may work out and it may NOT.

If our plan doesn't work and we end up going to a different company, We would still post on the Central thread because we have friends here and no we wouldn't bash Central because we actually read out Lease agreement and went into it with our eyes wide open.
