Hope everyone had a good 4th. I had some hometime and am now back out. I might as well stayed home. I have the load from hell. Ok so the story starts before my hometime, I dropped my load in Orient,Oh but there were no empty's there. Ok no problem, bobtail home. Get a load after hometime, decide to go the night before to Orient to find a empty, none there. None at Kraft either.

So this morning I went on a goose chase to find a empty. No luck still. They reassign my load, but give me another load that should have been picked up the 5th at 0800, to deliver today 6th at 1800. Well they gave me that load at 1400. Go back to Kraft to pickup they can;t find the pickup number. Call my DM sit there a a good 2 hours finally they give me a new pickup number. Tell them I am going to need a new appointment for the 99. Nothing happens on that front, as I am getting fuel he sends me a qcom that if I get theire by 2130 I can get unloaded. Bust ### to get to the 99, get there at at 2135.

Oh did I mention this was Walmart in Bedford,Pa? Get turned away at a walmart? Surely you jest. Nope, was told that their crew finished early tonight and they canceled all 2130 appointments. So here I sit. At the sommerset travel plaza.

Oh my D/M also sent out a qcomm that freight is going to be VERY VERY slow this week due to the holiday. There is a lot of red on the boards, and reloads may happen very slowly. I have a feeling I am going to have to sit on this load until they get a new appointment.

just wanted to say hi to everyone. this has been quite a story to read these last couple of weeks. i'm only up to about 4 weeks ago so still catching up to the present. i just wanted to throw some 2 cents before i join the conversation. PEOPLE, IF YOU HAVE A CRIMINAL RECORD AND ARE WORRIED ABOUT YOUR FUTURE, YOU CANNNNN GET IT EXPUNGED. and it would be in your best interest to have that done. here in utah. some things take 5 years before eligibility, most take 7 and others take 10. provided you don't have double offenses. but each state is different, i am sure. in utah, it costs 10 bucks for fingerprints. usually 15 minutes later you have your background check. 2 weeks later you get a letter telling you what's eligible and the process to do it. the whole process takes upwards of 2 months. i had some things from when i was young and dumb. but now i am clean. if you have offenses in other states. well, that will be some work for you. as you will have to go to that state for expungement also.

i was actually thinking about joining the central family. but i guess pro's aren't welcomed. have to figure something else out. anyways, just wanted to make the appearance untill i catch up in the conversation. and let everyone know that expungement should be seriously considered. i would be interested in maybe having lunch with the trainers if they desire to go somewhere more then a mile from HQ. meet some of the guys from this thread. this has been some interesting reading. wished i would have found this forum much earlier. just got to the point where i found another guy from utah just starting his schooling with central.

i live 15 miles from WVC headquarters.

anyways, just popped in to say hi. be back after i catch up. if yall don't mind. you might find me out there somewhere on some lonesome highway sometime. although obvisouly not with central.

Evidently you didn't read the entire thread. In my opionion you sir are no professional driver and i am saddend that there are people like you in our industry and your the ones that have the idotic mentality. because real drivers help other drivers out. share info about their experiences good or bad that not only apply to Central but other companies as well. if maybe you would have read the entire thread you would see that. they talk about the good and the bad out on the road and the wives also use the thread as a somewhat support group while us drivers are away. this is not a private chat room and anyone is free to post up on this thread provided that they have something productive to say weather it is good or bad. If you can't see it sir you have blinders on.

All that aside, I have a question: Is backing a small, short trailer more difficult than a longer 53ft one? Somewhere on another forum a poster was making that argument. I can see where it might be more responsive, but more difficult ? I'd like some comments from the pro's on that one.

nope have backed them both, just one turns faster than the other.JJRanch

I've got to tell you, I'm really saddened by that. I wish there was a way to convey to you younger folks just how good things used to be.

I still have fun doing the job. I absolutly love driving. yes the pay for what we do should be more than what we get and we have corporate greed to thank for that. Thats why my goal is to get to a point where i can run independant and use central as a stepping stone to get to where i want to be. I will not let any company destroy my dream or my love for trucking. I might stumble and fall along the way but i will pick myself up and dust myself off and keep on truckin. i talk and teach some of the old school ways to my students in hopes that maybe things will change, it might be a lost cause but maybe i can put some good drivers back out on the road. there is no feeling like winding up the mistress and putting her into the wind on an open road. well atleast there is one driver that you know that is still optimistic.JJRanch

JJ, thanks for the reply. I'm glad to hear you are still feeling optimistic about trucking. I hope you are able to rub that off on your trainees. If you're happy now, then just imagine how good it will be when the economy turns around!
