Driver on the scales, park your paperwork and bring your truck in.

Is it just me or does the the food really suck in the chow hall

you need to get your head out of your 4th point of contact and get with the program

If you don't mind me changing the subject, I was in an old cabover today and it really got me thinking about how much things have changed:

Back in the day before qualcomms, cellphones, and gps, it was a real proud thing to get a load from point A to point B.

The shipper would give you the paperwork, shake your hand, and TRULY thank you for hauling the load. Once you left, there was NO WAY to track you, NO WAY to know if you were doing fine or sitting along the road stranded. People used to worry about you because they had no way to know if you were okay or not.

If you had a breakdown, you found a way around it and tried to keep going. Road service wasn't much help before cell phones were around to call them.

We all knew that the broken down driver could be us, so we always jumped in to lend a hand. It was a real feeling of comraderie.

I'll never forget delivering my very first load in the old cabover. Every time I took a left turn the passenger door would swing open!

It was a proud day, pulling into the reciever's lot with the radiator trying to boil over and the wigwag down in front of the windshield!! Not much power or safety to spare in that old equipment!

By the way, the first one of you under the age 30 who knows what a wigwag is gets a free meal by 6pak4two or me.

You have to ask an older driver-- no fair googling it.

Food is totally different, we don't have as much sweet stuff more savoury stuff, buttttttt there is this great little Aussie online store in Cali where I can get my Aussie fix.

Now imagine flaky pastry with ground beef, a rich dark Brown Gravy, layer of Bacon and cheese covered in Flaky pastry, Sheesh I'm making myself Drool, or chicken in a cheesy sauce with asparagus in a flaky pastry.

So as you can tell I miss a few Aussie things lol.

But the American Breakfast is better!
OMG I cant believe you did not mention vegemite, I love that stuff.

ever since i got on the road with bob that's all i've been drinking....sweet tea!!

hey jess, i hope you have been able to get with JJ on the road lately too, i'm glad that i have the opportunity to spend time away from home without having to worry about anything. i must say tho', that i have had the painful pleasure of seeing the life of a trucker and my hats off to all the drivers out there who have to deal with impatient, old, distracted, irresponsible and uncourteous 4 wheelers. i do not, could not, never will have what it takes to be a driver.....don't have it in me....i'll stick to navigating and the paperwork.

Ok who's ### do I have to kiss to get them to pay for a truckwash every now and then? My nice white truck looks like I've been offroading. Being a company driver, I'm not going to spend a cent to keep their equipment clean
