i was looking at some of the posts out there, some companies won't allow a 2000 watt inverter installed in the trucks. and some companies don't allow the truck to idle. looks like some states aren't allowing idle anymore either. and don't look like a lot are installing those apu's. as sweet as those things look, and working out for everyone involved with cost and emissions. so i'm looking at options for comfort and electricity without idling the truck. specially in winter when your sitting around for days. i see home depot has the best deal for a 2000 watt generator. and a small window mount a/c, that would only add 100 lbs. between the two. throw in a space heater, 5 lbs more. and your set for around $400. just need some type of fridge and tv. defenitly packing the gorge forman and one burner propane stove. don't know about the crock pot though. i'm impatient when it's time to eat.

For those who are considering buying an APU, here is a web site that provides infor on government rebates (state by state) as well as government loans and grants to lesson the cost of purchasing one. IN some states, between the federal grant and the state rebate, it could cost you as little as 20 % of the total cost - and you can get a low interest loan for the 20 %. It's worth looking into. My trip would have been 30 hours from Austin TX on Greyhound. My total flight and a short layover is about 4 1/2. Central will reimbure you for up to the price of the greyhoud ticket. My flight was $155.00 total with another $15 for my checked bag.

Hey snowwy just a heads up some companies wont allow the little propane tanks. You might want to check with the company your going to go with. Although out of sight out of mind. Have a good day

Well this is going to be my 4th trip to Fl. and so far, my company has been good about getting me out of there. Only thing wooden in these plastic and fiberglass trucks that I can knock wood on is my head, so thats what I'm knocking on for good luck. Good thing I just resupplied on asperin!!!!

To be honest tho, I'm way more worried at the moment about finding a place to park if needed. Truck stops in that area are few and small and who knows what streets you can park on and if the area is safe or not. Oh well, one step at a time.
