Well, I just had an interesting experience. On my last load before hometime, haulin from Bakersfield to Riverside. After coming down the Grapevine, just after you can return to normal speed, inbetween shifts from 7 hi to 8 low the truck dies, no electrical, no engine, no lights, no power steering, etc....

I manage to begin braking and manhandling the steering to get it off the road since I'm now running dark at 1am. Not being able to see the side of the road I shoot for the whiteline and see the curb. So I straighten out with the curb and the line then BAM hit a guardrail, missing a drainage cutout by mere feet!

Immediately assesed the safety of the truck and trailer, set out the triangles and called OTRM and night dispatch to let them know what happened and that the load would be late.

Now I sit here patiently awaiting a tow truck to tow me into the Fontana terminal.

I'm happy it didn't happen while coming down the Grapevine!

No damage to me or the trailer. Maybe only minor damage to the truck, nothing visible.

    Whew!!!!!!!

Sounds like you did a good job getting it shut down and to the side. Hope all turns out well and that you get home soon.

    Nice job bootlegger!!!!!!!!!!

Well 1bad will be in atlanta tomorrow but sounds like he is going to his folks this time in. He doesn't want to catch whatever this is I got. Can't say that I blame him. But when I get sick is when I really miss him so I wish he were here. But I don't want him to be on the road and miserable so baby if you read this I understand but I miss you like crazy right now!

YIKES!!!! Mine has died like that 7 times, been towed 3, between the "3 stooges" (Volvo, Cummins, Our shops) nobody can figure out what's wrong. I've had 2 ECU's, new wiring harness, 4 new batteries (twice), new alternator (3 times), new battery cables. The list could go on and on.

Don't let them hit you with a preventable accident for hitting the guardrail, glad to know you are ok

YAY!!!!!! 1bad will be home for Thanksgiving after all now I just gotta get better so I can go to his grandmother's with the family. Unwritten rule if you are sick you don't go! She is almost 94 and can't afford to catch anything! So let's hope I am way better by then. Gonna go to the doc in the morning and see what this is I got. Kinda feels like the flu but I'm not 100% sure. So we shall see tomorrow.

Yep, you're from the South. My family in GA is up to 97, in California it is 9, in Florida 2, Virginia 3, Maryland 3, Louisiana 5, so it's over 119. I'm leaving some out of the equation. Procreation was never an issue within our ranks. Peace, Scott
