Thanks for the advise Chrome. I do appreciate all opinions especially form experienced drivers. I understand the downsides as they have been explained and I also see some upsides, and hope to see freight getting better over the next few years. I think I am still gonna pursue driving. Hopefully making it through these hard economic times will make me a better driver in the long run. I mean that by if I can budget and survive the way it is now then when things are better I could do even better because I can budget myself to the cheap. Please don't think I'm coming into this with blinders because, I know there are lots of downsides, but I am hoping for a big change in my life and I think this may be the catalyst.

Well widow, got your advice just to late. TN hasn't been 2 bad so far but VA sucked on I 81. Don't know what time it started snowing but when I hit the road at 0400 this morning, there was 4 to 5 in on the road and still comin down in spots. Am in Lebanon, TN now and have the rest of TN, AR, and some of TX to go thru. Here the temp is supposed to take a dive tonight and could be crappy tomorrow.

1bad left around 10:30 this morning got about an hour up the road and has been sitting ever since. It appears the turbos went out on the truck. They sent the monkeys from conley to fix it they showed up without even a wrench must less the parts to fix it. Now he waits for them to go back to Conley get what they need and come back he was supposed to be in SC 2 hours ago needless to say that didn't happen. they had to change his appt time to tomorrow sometime. DM is pissed but what can he do as a driver nothing but wait and that is exactly what he is doing. Doing it with his uncle but still just waiting. He said it is snowing there now so really hoping he can even make it to his pick up at all tomorrow. Then he comes back he drops and hooks and heads to chi town early Monday morning we will see how that goes.

2009 was a rough year for pretty much everyone, we did ok. This year has been great so far, except for all this hard weather. Snowstorm in Missouri last night shut us down. Slow going today over OK. Going to warmer weather next week. YAY!

if i may be so brave as to make a minor correction of the above posting without stepping on toes and causing trouble.
it's the unemployment that's at it's highest level in 25 years.
the recession!! it's the worse since the GREAT DEPRESSION.
those numbers are continusouly announced online in the local news around here.
of course. we already knew that as we've all been broke for almost 3 years now.
