Oh I know.. Trust me.. I just bought a car while I was in.. All I added was insurance and a car payment.. But it seems I may have over done it.. Somethings been botherin me.. When I didn't have any bills.. I seemed to average 2800 a wk.. Of course I blew it...
Well the last month I've had nothing near 2800 man.. Its because I'm getting around my year and I'm not a l/o I believe... So I'm prolly gunna be sayin farawell pretty soon.. A lot of the factories in my town are hiring again and it seems, atleast in my parts, that the job economy might be picking up.. So its time to go home.. Make more money and BE home more.. I've learned a valuable lesson here though...
If its too good to be true.. Turn around and get the hell outta dodge... Cuz she's gunna blow...

it would seem that a lot of companies are beating quarterly earnings. and are getting to the point that they realize what little staff they have left are overworked and they need to hire more people.
there is also news that some states are starting to ban the practice of credit checks for new hires. add to that the fact that the new cdl rules coming out this year will more then likely dump out any cdl holder that can't do there job proficiently and now have a tarnished driving record.
i see rookies dropping like flies and us seniors get treated with respect again. doors should start opening up again for veteran truckers.

I don't understand how you say oppertunities will open for veteran truckers... The only people I see making money are veterans.. You guys are in the decent companies and making decent company...
I see how maybe if a veteran has a lot of tickets or a lot of dots.. Then maybe some of the larger companies won't want you.. But if you have 5+ years.. Why go to a larger mill? You have your pick at most all companies...
I wish I just had a year ex, so I could atleast get a steady 2000 or 2500 a week.. I really want a company too, that atleast knows my name.. If nothing else..

I have only been driving for a living for six months, and I don't always get a lot of road miles and I drive a 95 t600 when i go out, BUT! i sleep in my own bed at least 5 to six nites a week, I get paid by the mile and by the hr so for instance, last week i ran 2100 miles (all in CA.) and got 44 hrs in also

ummm. ..... he probably has a deal that pays per mile for driving time and hourly for non-driving stuff.
Said he had 2100 miles and got 44 hours ALSO. Not 2100 in 44 hrs.
At least that's what I think?

i know when i first started with my company. we were leased out. hauling contaminated soil from a burst oil pipe. leaving the yard. about 60 miles to load site. hauling 2 loads. about 200 miles round trip. and back to yard. total was about 550 miles. AT LEAST 11 hours. times that by 5 days. 2750 miles in 56 hours. i think it was more like 58 hours though. the only non driving was getting loaded. which took about 5 minutes per load. getting unloaded sometimes took a bit as it was cold days and the load would freeze.
