I posted this a few times in this forum. I met a friend in training and we decided to team, because we thought two knuckleheads would be better than one in a truck. DON'T DO IT!!!!!
Pay, 30cpm split for all miles. Which means you only make 15 cents a mile they only ran us SOLO miles, and we had 3 different fleet managers. THe way teaming at central works is if you are husband and wife, but if not you are giving away half your paycheck.
We were only running solo miles, sitting alot, and the biggest mile week we had was only 5200 miles and we only had that once most weeks were 3000 or less, our low week was 1000 miles.

I feel sorry for whoever gets a McLane load... they take FOREVER to unload 17 pallets. Been outside since 1100 apt # 1700... no problem at least I was on time. In a door # 1600 and still in a door # 1925! Now I dont even have drive time to get to the rest area 20 miles away when they wont let me stay on the property. I swear I think they all rode the short bus to school!

Mikley...I've had two loads from them..and they're all the same. I actually got into a confrontation with the lumpers there! Apparently I was sitting at his desk, which was actually a table in the middle of a walkway...haha. There's a reason they make minimum wage!

Well after reading all the posts in here i decided to not go with central. I was gonna go with roehl, but my license got suspended for one week in Nov 07 so roehl wont take me. So now i am back to where i started with going with central. I know, There is so much bad said about central, but there is bad said about every company. Some more than others. Dont get me wrong, I am not one of these guys that says "eh them guys that bitched didn't know what they were doing" or something along them lines. However i do think that with how many "rookies" central takes in that could be contributing to the amount of bad that is said about them. (IE, people that cant adjust to the lifestyle or don't under stand how the business works, blah blah blah) I am not saying i know everything, that is just my opinion. My plans are to make the best of what i can, and stick it out for at least a year maybe more if i get treated well. If not then i will move on. There are no jobs where i live and i just got laid off from my job but the unemployment ain't cuttin' it so i have to do something and i dont have the funds to pay for the training, nor the time to try to find grants and the such. So, i plan to start with central in slc ut, on march 29th, just need to get my lazy butt of the coutch and get in shape a bit now.

I grew up in the trucking Industry....My family in Australia have a reasonably large trucking company so I know what the lifestyle is like!!
My other half JJ started this thread a little over two years ago and he didn't go into trucking blindly either.
There are some DM's at Central who will work for you and there are some who shouldn't be employed as a greeter at Wally world, but the Central hierarchy are one big happy family lol as you will get to find out!!
All I can say is good luck and I hope it works out for you, but after seeing names on here come and go very quickly (never to be heard from again) what makes you think that you will be any different?
If you do have a DM that wants to work for you then good, lets hope Central don't fire them when they try push for more miles for there drivers.
What Central needs is the gooberment to take away the free grant money for the students if the student doesn't last a year and then maybe Central would get back into the business of hauling freight and not turning out 30-50 students a week, have you ever considered where your truck will come from when you upgrade?????? That was some other hopefuls truck who was going to look after there family, only to near starve to death instead.
