Watkins Shepard in NC
I've looked and looked but cannot find out if Missoula Mt. is the only terminal they do training out of. Anyone know if the Hickory or High Point NC terminals offer schooling?
Thanks

I received a Watkins/Shepard application and their training school is in Missoula, MT. Phone them in Missoula to get the final word. They start classes the last week of every month and the number of students will be decided by the openings that W/S has for drivers.

We train in Sayreville, NJ if you have your CDL already from another school.

Hello all! I've been a long-time reader but have not posted much. I have read through almost all of the Watkins Shepard posts and appreciate all the great information on this website. My question is regarding team driving at WS. My wife and I are interested in driving together and while I have 2 years experience, she has none. I will most likely qualify for the 10-day school/orientation and she will have to complete the 30 days of training in Missoula. My wife is willing to quit her job if the miles are still available to us in this slow economy. She's been on the road with me several times so although she's never driven a truck she is familiar with the trucker lifestyle. I spoke with recruiting briefly but would like to get some feedback from current team drivers or solo drivers who stay in frequent contact with teams. How many monthly miles are teams averaging? Are there certain lanes you tend to stay in or is it mostly terminal to terminal or just general OTR? Did you come to WS with experience or did you go through their school? Any information or advice would be helpful. Thank you.

At this time, Watkins is only training at the Missoula facility, and only offering the 3 and 10 day orientation. (3 Day for experienced drivers, 10 day for newbies with CDL) When in doubt, check with recruiting

I talked to the recruiter yesterday, very helpful and spent as much time on the phone with me as I needed. She answered all my questions and was very helpful.

30 day training is only done in missoula, if u are an experienced driver u do the 3 day training in Conover, if u are a newbie with a cdl u do 10 days training in Conover...The training in conover is to get u familiar with wksh paperwork, watch films, and to make sure u can drive the truck up and down black mountain and through the city......hope this helps
